Beat me to it.
I say try it if you have the time to waste. I feel sure it isn't going to work, but we may all learn something from your experiment. As far as the variable vanes, just fix them in a position you are temporarily comfortable with.
Yeah I had the case off already and saw no corrosion anywhere. Very very clean inside, but this radio did sit unused for a good wholesome the contacts probably did have some corrosion on them or maybe some crud. Makes no difference anyway as I'll be taking it all apart to strip and refinish soon...
Ok, got the stuff hooked up temporarily today and could not get it to power up at first. After turning the power switches on the PRC77 and the AM 2060 on and off a few times it finally came to life. Maybe just some corrosion on the contacts but it seems to work now, granted I have no test...
I put a coolant catch tank on mine and my coolant stays full now. I got tired of having low coolant. And it really never was low, but I like being able to see a full radiator when I remove my cap.
I'm going to wire it up tomorrow in the deuce and give it another try. I simply was doing visual inspection of the component groups before hooking it to power again, being as Airbornebandsman informed me that it did not power up. I wanted to see if it may have been something obvious, and this...
I only have 498-12 and 498-35 here. I have removed the square ceramic piece and followed all the wires and they are all connected. I do not have a pinout list, that I know of anyway. Franz, will do, thank you sir.

I think I was there at like 1:30 in the morning or something. May have been 11:30. I'm not sure, still recovering. I knew fuzzy couldn't resist posting that pic. And I wasn't even tired yet in that pic, I just didn't want to back over the lady getting into her vehicle on that side. And I don't...
Left home at about 7:00 am yesterday and just got back around 1:30 pm today. I didn't stop for the night and never **** the engine down. No real problems other than my flasher unit went out. Good thing I had a spare with me. Now I have a cucv2 in my yard with everything else.
That sounds really terrible. It needs to be fixed. Let us know what you find when you tear it down. You must have bent a rod or a valve or something. Maybe a bent pushrod, which is common on over revved engines.
