N14's weren't around in the timeframe you give...well the NHC is a 14L engine..855 cid. The dimensions are the same. JW is correct, the jakes will put it too tall, but since there isn't a x-over, it might be OK.
I'm thinkin' about making a couple of awards for this trip. Farthest traveled and stoopidest move of the trip. I got it last time, hope I'll be surrendering it! :idea:
1997? If it is, I'd do the Cummins, they run way better than the DT, but only if it is a mechanical engine. The ISB was introduced in 1998 but there were early release engines. If it is an ISB, do the DT. The VP44 will leave you stranded or just be a giant thorn in your side.
You guys better post some pics. I'm gettin' all itchy with the talk of campin', beer, BBQ, cocktails. The weather makes me think of the DB trip comin' up!
