Not sure where your located but member Jeffmule (General Jims Surplus in Clare) was selling the new correct 6TL batteries for $125 last year when I replaced mine.

You would have a nut on top to re-tighten the spring (unless road salt rusts that up also) , as opposed to the thread rusting in the housing ( the stud will still rust in the housing)
It depends on where it was "rebuilt" . Red River rebuilds were pretty much just paint jobs and MWO's unless there was a major failure before it went there.

Since your looking for axle information go to the axle section , find the parts diagram (numbers for each part) then go to the parts list for whatever part your looking at and it will give you the name , nsn , and part number.
