"...she doesn't understand her dad's hobbies..."
Aw, I don't know. She seemed to be enjoying herself at Jim Thorpe. This'll be more like Six Flags on the Rocks than The Mini Mil Mall.

I appreciate all the comments so far. G741 referenced the 4 Wheel M37 but it took some digging to get the URL with more info about the fuel tank install:
http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/projectbuild/131_1105_1965_dodge_m37_the_dumpster/
They changed straps and modified the filler but also cut...
My gas tank has too much rust in it. I'm going to clean it out and I can also have it relined or purchase one. However, on G741 I read of several guys who've used modern ones from Econolines, Broncos, S-10 Blazers, etc. Those are about 20% of the cost bought new and could let me resolve a...
It's an intriguing idea. If it works, it could be used to reseal all the little pinholes and such that come with age. The variables I can think of are that vinyl and the caulk might expand and contract at different rates in different temps and peeling could occur. The more the vinyl flexes in...
"...I actually did find that picture! But it did not give me the height of the bed..."
Well, the top of the steering wheel shows 81" and the width shows 88". If it clears those properly (and I'd want more) . . .

"...replace the rubber bushings in between the frame and the T-case mounts..."
Amen. They're cheap. If those are shot, they can actually mimick bad synchronizer gears and the TCase will pop out into neutral. Worked for a friend; unfortunately, not for me. It was the gears.

When mine was done, it was engine hoist to suspend and drop the TC onto a regular old moving dolly, then reverse to install. However, there are at least 6 threads with pictures that show other variations. The trick with the install is getting the weird tilt right. That can be tricky and...
Thanks for the heads up. The 1st bolt spins freely in the hinge so I've been optimistic. Just the nut is stuck. Nevertheless, I'm gonna make it a point to check the other 3. An acquaintance was able to get his to unthread with a few days soaking w/ PBB. I'm hoping to be as lucky.

"...Finally! I got both door hinge bolts out. Heat, water, PB Blaster, pounding, and repeat until successful..."
I'm facing the same. However, I'm gonna cut 'em off with a disk cutoff tool and I already have the replacements from Fastenal.

I liked the crane setup. I was able to get some very nice 5/8" structural steel plate to customize my pintle riser. When I saw that crane mount, I thought of using a similar full plate, perhaps slightly larger than the base to reinforce. Can't picture the underside of the bed but perhaps that...
Update: Mine was bad. It finally flipped yesterday after heating and beating on it a couple of hours every weekend and soaking it a few times through the week in between. It outlasted 2 lesser torches, 2 hammer handles and a full can of PBBlaster and portions of several other concoctions...
Boy, is this thread timely! I was just thinking about what to do with the one I took out - scrap, try to sell for parts, try to rebuild ....
I've heard of the 'turn around' trick before, but I'd be interested in any replacement part numbers if someone comes up with them.
Thanks.

I take it that this threads about member's makeing illiterate error's in the title's and post's about difficultie's with their truck's. I find that iritating to.

"...Anyone know what color this would be or something very close to it? ..."
I don't know for sure but it looks very similar to the IDF 'Sinai Grey' See:

The cable step is a nice variation of the stirrup. I take it that the retractible works by picking up the bottom rung and pushing the ladder portion under the bed, correct?
