    My M101A3...new to MV

Safety chain seems to be the same on 101 and 105 trailers, probably more to do with interchangeability and costs of scale. I bought 1/2" Grade 40 logging chain which seems to match what's on the trailer. Specs (lbs) are: ...................Working Load...........Ultimate load 1/2" 9200...

Changing oil in deuce for first time

I'm pretty sure that the NAPA filters come with replacement gaskets. Make sure you get the old ones out and if you've not done it yourself before, beware that the guy before you might have put in doubles. Mine had. We get good deals on the Rotella gallons locally at Walmart. Do take a few...

Crazy crazy Dornier 28 landing, 2 views

When I took my power license at Wurtsboro airport, the glider tow pilots flew the L-19 tow planes like that at all times. Got paid by the tow. As they broke 2500' AGL, they'd start the descending left turn and pop the glider rope at the same time. About (3) 360 turns and they were on the...

    Cat's eye camera

I've seen rear cameras in a thread or two but don't think they were there. Neat idea, though. Steve

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Put a new brake light pressure switch into the air pack after the old one shorted out in a very impressive billow of smoke a couple weeks ago. I know I'm supposed to put in the air-side kit. We'll save that for another Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas to all. Steve

    My M135 Quad cab

I trust you'll be bringing it to the MTA's Sussex show on April 27th & 28th. Your work deserves to be drooled upon in person. Steve

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Good luck with your new fun machine and enjoy the buzz. You only get to be a new owner once, then you rapidly become a collector. In addition to Windex for the glass, a roll of duct tape can be mighty handy in the tool box. Steve

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I was thinking about the hood denting after my 1st post. I don't think that even thick rubber blocks such as are used as stoppers in the undercarriage would adequate for repeated banging such as from potholes and the like, and any strap would loosen with the jiggling. Steve

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Neat look but what happens to the hood if you hit a bump? Steve

    M146 RV Conversion

Mike, Mike, Mike: Why do that to your truck when tractors are going for such reasonable prices? There's gotta be enough room in those lanes for another piece. Besides, you'd have more to wrench on. Steve

    Exterior Latex/Acrylic House Paints

Dark colors take longer to cure than light colors, varying by mfr. Depending on the tint, I wouldn't be surprised at 2 days, even in AZ. On top of that, I think most are for more porous surfaces like wood where it soaks in vs. metal where it has to air cure. Check the label. If it's like...

What is the Correct Stop Light Switch P/N - Old Style/Hydraulic?

Yes, thanks. I know about the kit from the other threads. I'm working on the hydraulic side only for the moment. Steve

What is the Correct Stop Light Switch P/N - Old Style/Hydraulic?

Underneath like this, I'm not worried about authenticity. Before posting, I read a half-dozen threads on this. Bjorn and Doghead (I'm pretty sure) had commented in a couple of them on pressure rating and DOT5 compatibility, particularly with the NAPA SL-134 Switch. The Deuce switch pressure...

What is the Correct Stop Light Switch P/N - Old Style/Hydraulic?

Thanks. The NSNs and part numbers get very confusing. Shortly after I posted, one of the local guys spotted it and I think he has not only the switch but the plug parts for the wires leading in to it. They're shot as well. I tested all the other lights and unlike the last time I had a...

What is the Correct Stop Light Switch P/N - Old Style/Hydraulic?

I have the old style hydraulic-side stop light switch and it shorted out. I need to replace it. I know about the air side upgrade but that's not what I'm after at this point. It looks to me like both the hydraulic side and air side stop light switches have the same P/N in the TMs, but that...

2012 Toys For Tots Event Thread

For the NY train, you need to go the the site www.ToysForTotsNJ.com to get the 'click on...' schedule. Doin' the Warwick -> Walden run, Chris? Steve Edit: Actually I think I shagged it.

    Damage From Running Split Boot?

If the replacements were every 24+ months, I'd tend to agree with Tow4 on sticking with the zippers. It doesn't seem right that you can't check the mfr of the boots when you buy them. For example, when you buy seals you can identify New Star. I've had that thought about the silicones that I...

    Damage From Running Split Boot?

Thanks for reviving this thread. My truck was actually torn down on both sides a year ago and everything was in superb shape except the boots. Changed seals anyway. The current split ones are the 2nd pair I've put on. The pair of silicones I just got from Kublo's is my third in about 15...

    Problem shooting on my m37

Here's one. I saw Facet pumps talked about on G741.org. I followed the model numbers, wrote to Facet, and got this response. Your choice will depend on whether you want to run it continuously or intermittently: Thank you for your interest in Facet fuel pumps. The 480564E Gold-flo fuel pump...
