RE: Re: RE: More 1009 battery problems
I am not mistaken. The front 12 volt battery is only connected to the rear battery alt by the positive side. The negative side of the front battery does not make a connection to the negative of the alt. You can't have a complete circuit with out the...
Thanks. I will post how I get it done. I never remember to take picture when I start this stuff. I mean to but forget in my rush to get stuff done. I asked my daughter to take pictures and got the "aw dad!!!" response.
I'm sorry but you are wrong on this. I can't talk about the M1010 system but as for the M1009, the alternator for the back battery senses the charge level of the back battery only. It will only charge the back battery if the back battery is low. It does not see the front battery voltage at all...
I just got some. They seemed kind of unuseful to me until I saw the folks on American Chopper using one. I bought cheap ones from Harbor Freight and I got to use them for the first time this weekend. I had to drill a 3/4 inch hole in a fuel tank. It drilled like a knife threw butter. It really...
The alternators are the same for either side. They both put out 14 volts. One charges the front battery and one charges the back. the isolated ground is connected to the negative side of the back battery. It is also connected to the the positive side of the front battery but it is isolated from...
Dave, I may have a proper A1 handgrip if you want it so your rifle is correct. I could not see if you had the proper butt stock but I may have one also. Only an old armorer would notice the difference.
I will look. I may have a drivers door panel and the gauge panel dash plastic. I may also have the dash trim panel. I will check this weekend and see if I have them.
I will make sure it seals tight. I could get a fender washer then use my unibit to get just the right diameter. The spring would have to compress an extra 3/8 of an inch or so and I worry about over stressing the spring. With your cup I could just use the middle part and tack it to a washer and...
Memphis Equipment said I could use a washer but I think this would compress the spring too much. I appreciate it Kenny. Nice to see you got the promotion from village idiot to slick.
It is not really a 24 volt system. It is two separate 12 volt systems. This makes it easier. The rear battery is just used for the glow plugs and the starter as long as you don't have any military radios hooked up. Does your volt gage work? If so does it read in the marked space in the green...
I got some universal speaker boxes from a local store and am going to mount them on the rear wheel wells. I figured mounting any other way would not produce good sound due to the lack of any interior panels. Of course this is for my M1009. If you have the truck I would just get the behind the...
I have may an extra fuel sending unit if you need it. Mine happened to be a bad gauge instead of a bad sending unit so I have an extra out and ready to go. I just need to find it. Check the TM. The have a very nice flow chart on checking the sender. There is a connector on the driver's side...
Bjorn,
Mephis did not have any. I guess it is made out of the same stuff as Kenny's hydraulic fittings (unobtainium). I am sending a PM now. I will see what I can do with it. If it is too bad I can tack a washer around the outside edge.
Re: RE: tach repair
The tach is cable operated. Grounds will not effect it. The cable may be binding. You can disconnect it at both ends then spin the cable by hand and see if you can feel any binding. This will tell you whether you need a new tach or a new cable.
