Allot of folks know how the boxes work, where did you get that idea???
EDIT, I have repaired them, many others have repaired them while others have discovered ways of converting them to manual control and even posted the information, no big mystery there.
Well Spring Break at Port Aransas was a little light today, by mid day things started to pick up, Nice sunny day with a high in the mid 80s on the beach.
A sun rise that could best be described as pastel.
Prime Spring Break real-estate.
A little closer to town, I was getting some close aerial...
Those testers are wiz-bang gizmos, they do not actually load the batteries (as evidence they have small multi meter like test leads)
So it did not load the battery to 900+amps, (it would need 2-0 cables and massive clamps) I do not trust them. I would have them load tested on a real tester.
I put NOS BAJAs on the DuraVee with Trailworthy bead locks and Centramatics, no balance and they are fine at well above legal speeds.
I did use 24 bolt wheels, not sure if that made any difference but have read they tend to run a little truer than the 12 bolt, I have no real knowledge if that is...
575A should be going into that plug, it carries the power to the glow plugs from the PCB/EESS box, I assume someone cut it at the plug, put a ring terminal on it, connected it to a crap relay to control the glow plugs.
You may be in for some real "fun" if that was not the only "non spec" mod...
Did you read the thread? RWH has allot of experience and if he says it's a no-go you can believe it,
And to address the "spare" issue, why would one want to carry an inferior plug that would need to be changed soon, for most dealers two of the OEM plugs will ship for the same money.
I got the splint off today. surgeon says a few weeks of therapy and I should have 80% or better recovered use of my left hand!!
I did take the DuraVee into Corpus to the hospital but did not get any pictures...
BEAUTIFUL day in S TX!!!!
The one you bought was an early non GEP cross over, it had to be modified in later models for clearance, why your GEP cross over was designed lower.
If I had one of the early types that was modified I would seek out the GEP (black) cross over, although it may not actually make any difference.
Other than building a machine to test shocks, if you are not porpoising down the road and they do not show signs of leaking they are likely OK.
If it seems to ride to harsh that is just the nature of the beast. (and what sells 90% of the shocks)
If you have a truck that WAS up armored it will...
Take it easy on the brake pedal, you don't want to blow the seals in the hydo-boost.
No need to open anything.
But again what model??? If you have V belts it could be loose belts, "not smooth at all" does not sound like just a little air in the fluid.
If air is entrained in the fluid it will...
