I have to do something. My hood is moving so much at the hinges when I'm driving that I'm afraid the pins are going to break and end up making a sail. I think I'm going to try the lynch pin idea when I have time.

I've had good luck with these types of lockers in Both front and rear axles in jeeps without locking hubs even as daily drivers. Never had one in a deuce though.
Or go with a 6.5 turbo diesel so you get a decently powerful Diesel engine like the 4bt, but without the adapter plates and whatnot. Of course, I'm sure you've already considered that.
