No the starter is more than likely fine. You have a bad connection somewhere there. You must have gotten something hot and melted an insulator or part of a connector that you haven't seen yet. You need to take all of the cables off of the hull connector and inspect closely.

Yeah the hills here are not steep compared to some of those in Wyoming, but we do have some pretty long steep grades in the northwestern part of the state. And I know what a grade is after living in Colorado for some years and traveling all across the country.

Just don't expect it to tow 30,000 pounds like a Chevy with a Duramax because it won't. It will pull 30,000 pounds, just not quickly.

I have the gutless wonder that is the LDT 465-1d. 134 rated horsepower. Seems to me that a lot of people have vastly different power outputs from these trucks. I will tell you that I can count the number of times that I have NEEDED to downshift on a steep hill on one hand and still have fingers...

Mine maintains at least 40 on a grade with another deuce behind it on a towbar. That's 13,000.

I replaced that switch with a Chinese repro recently. Maybe that's the problem. I painted the column while I had it off.

The exporter that I've been collecting equipment for told me this yesterday. Apparently someone decided that HMMWVs might be worth something to the public and they aren't making enough from scrap on them. Supposed to be a trial release of around 2000 units to see what kind of prices they bring...
