I'm also having problems with 4600. Won a Deuce, submitted EUC same night (e-mail). Nothing changed, today I used live chat "Heidi" and she had no way to check on the EUC. I e-mailed it (again) directly to her, got a verification e-mail saying that it was passed along. My fingers are crossed...

I got the one thats missing the driver's side hood side. Hopefully thats all it needs. Waiting for EUC now, hopefully recovery soon. Not one of the best at that sale, they were going pretty high!

I was at beaubeau's today and crawled under one of his Deuces, and I can see where space is an issue. When I have a Deuce that I can keep for my very own (unlike the ones I have to sell first so I can BUY my own), I'll look into it further. Of course I have other decisions to make first...bob or...
Umm....a bunch just sold from GL in NJ on the 27th. I'm the winner of one. What price range are you looking for? (which will dictate the condition of the truck you are after).
Jim
With a 3-speeds aux., it would do all fairly well (O.K., still not a speed truck, but better than stock). Low-low would be way lower than stock; direct, and you have a stock Deuce...and in OD, you drop the revs a bit on the highway. I- like many owners- know the truck will never cruise at 80...
WM, good info...glad you have experience in that area. Guess you are the guy to handle the fuel. :grd:
I'm jealous...if my winning numbers come up, I'll put my name in the hat for the trip for sure! Its just crazy enough to be a blast.
Jim
I don't really want to start a new thread for this question, didn't find it in the search, and it fits in here....
Anyone put an aux. trans in a Deuce yet? I don't have mine home yet, so I can't look at the room available, but I have a medium duty 3-speed Spicer aux. trans: under, direct, and...
Auction ended 8/27, did EUC immediately, e-mailed it in. Went into "pending" the 28th. Hasn't moved since. I'm not expecting it to be any faster...just posting my time. This is my 5th purchase. Just seems longer because this is my first Deuce...I have the kid on christmas eve thing going.

Sorry for the misinformation about the AC motors...it was in the wee hours of the morning, very tired. Yes, you are correct, usually the wires have to be switched around.
I'm more familiar with DC, and back to these great dump trailers...I thought about doing that with one of mine, now I'm...
I like WM's idea, but I think I have to throw a wrench in the works...for that fuel truck, keep in mind that hauling large quantities of fuel puts you into requirements for special permits, hazmat fees, and hauling cross country brings in federal regulations for it. Even though its fryer oil...
Running 24v instead of 12v puts less strain on the motor. It will require half the amperage to operate. Ever notice how many power tools, such as compressors, can be wired either 110 or 220v? They are cheaper to operate on 220 because they use less amperage. Same goes for 12 vs. 24 volts. There...
I don't know about getting sponsored ahead of time for the TV thing...I think the best you could hope for is to use a decent camera and get all the footage you can, keep a diary, and submit it after the fact in hopes that they would buy it to do something with.
One thing that could bait them...
Sounds like an awesome trip! I always love road trips...the longer the better. I think it comes from hating where I live... Took my KLR650 to Kentucky and back this year, was a lot of fun, but still had a breakdown and a tough weekend finding what I needed to get home.
For an idea of...
I haven't used the other stuff, but my experience with POR is awesome! Need to make sure you have a good prep- meaning a bit rough- for it to bite to. ROUGH sandpaper, not just a little hit with 220. Sandblasted or lightly surface rusted metal is perfect. Once it goes on, it STAYS! Once hard...
Great thread. While I feel very strongly about certain subjects, rocking the boat can put a cause even further behind. I strongly support free speech- and you most definitely have the RIGHT to put whatever you want on your truck- as MV owners, we are already in a hobby that puts forth a...
This is a shot of what we came back from PA with. It towed great, didn't notice any difference between that and a 10k trailer behind it. Some of the pros driving Hotshots around the country tow a hell of a lot more than that on a daily basis. Use your head, as long as you aren't new to towing...
If that Dodge has the Cummins in it, and you have a properly rated trailer with working brakes available, you could do the tow no problem. We did one with a 1-ton '06 Chevy, using a 10 ton trailer (Deuce is only around 13,500#) and had no problems during the 500 mile pull. Key words being a...
I'll confirm the above. The Detroits share a common block pattern, so finding the correct "flywheel housing" (the front housing half, in front of and around the flywheel) and flywheel shouldn't be a problem. The 3053a uses an SAE #3 pattern, so you just need a Detroit SAE 3 adapter.
Heres a...
There was an ambulance version on Craigslist not long ago, and there was (he may still have it) a very nice, already restored one here in Berlin, NH.
Keep watch, check jsjauctions.com for the Sate of NH surplus auctions. There have been a few ex-fire brush trucks in very nice operating...
Funny thing...when Beaubeau and I picked up his first Deuce at Chambersburg, driving it home (pictured in my Avatar) with 2 trailers (one loaded, one towed) and him driving his '06 Duramax 3500 dually with one M105 behind, the Deuce barely used more fuel than the Chevy! I was astounded to say...
