Excellent advice! That sounds like a great way to do it. Ratchet straps (compared to chains or something solid) should allow enough movement, even when pulled tight, to let the wheels adjust a bit. I just wouldn't over tighten them, and also use strong straps. Just picture what would happen if 1...
The pics made some of them look pretty decent, and I think a few had winches this time, but the price was higher than I wanted to pay. Nice to know I made the right choice to skip them. I'd rather drive a nice truck back from Kentucky than a piece of crap from N.Y. The last batch they had went...
I would say go for it. No different towing without it hooked up than with, except for those times you would have to get inside and move the wheel...which is extremely rare. As was said, bring a big bar with you just in case. About the only time you would have a problem would be on a tight turn...
Man, I have to drive mine 1100 miles to get her home. But it looks like the Iron Moths haven't gotten to her yet, so it will be worth the drive. Anything from closer up north has already started to get recycled the natural way.
I just got my invoice...NO TAX FOR THIS ONE!!! I got nailed 7% on...

My wife was in class, so I couldn't ask her. My friend was on the phone with me, and he encouraged me, so I was able to blame him. Then I met her at school and took her out to eat. She started to get the idea something was up...maybe it was the 400th time I said "Honey, I love you". She's...
Nice trailer! Dare I ask how much you got it for? I'd eventually like to get one of the M750s and strip it down and make a drop deck out of it, like the one in the classifieds section right now. If I had the $$$$ for that setup, I'd buy the whole thing! The trailer could be used for longer...
Question, since you've been there...how did the guys there seem? And did they have equipment to be able to do a jump-start like many sites? I have a friend who will be doing the recovery if I can't make it on the right day (I told him his payment was that he could drive it around Louisville...
NP, its all part of the game. Glad it was someone on here who beat me to it. Many of those trucks looked really clean from the pics, hopefully as nice in person!

Thanks! Thats a big relief to hear! Now for the paperwork. It will be funny if this one gets approved before my truck from Lot #4600 that is dragging on. Wife ran out to Wal-Mart for printer ink so I can get the EUC in tonight, I don't want to waste even one night.

YOU GOT MY DEUCE! :-D I did a baaaaad thing. That was the first one I bid on, right near the end. Then it went up (still a GREAT price, in my opinion...) so I bid low on this one:
MY DEUCE
Got outbid, wasn't surprised, so I put one more bid in then went to play a game. Checked my acct. a...
I'm no professor, scientist, or really an expert in any field. I am a mechanic, and I see all kinds of vehicles with all kinds of mileage. My personal opinion, although it may seem stupidly common sense to some, many people ignore it, is to change your oil on a regular basis and use pretty much...
And what do single tires have to do with that? The fronts can be tough to steer correctly on soft ground with a tow bar, and it has nothing to do with whether the rears are singled. If you have several trucks and have to do this often, why not buy ONE pair of batteries and set them up as a 24v...
A small miracle happened!!! JUST before close of business today, I was upgraded to Sent to Battle Creek. Should be smooth sailing now! Good luck to the rest of you waiting. Anyone miss the deadline?

I think I saw a brief flash of olive drab in one shot.
Up here we use recordings like that in place of car alarm sirens. Its a major theft deterrent.

I guess I'm in the minority, mostly because something that age in the rust-free condition that one is in just doesn't exist. Where I live, someone would pay a couple times that for one with rust holes you could throw a basketball through. If I had a garage to work in, I'd love that one to do a...
I spoke to Heidi-live chat today, and was told even though the sales date was wrong, that my deadline for the EUC is close of business today. And although she did confirm that they have received the EUC & export letter, she can't confirm that it will be processed in time.
What other business...
I have a friend in the area who was going to do a preview for me, but he wasn't able to reach anyone all last week. Now its too close for him to get a day off to take a look for me. He's a vet, and wants a Deuce of his own in a bad way. His reward for the preview and recovery was that he could...
I'm eyeballing the ones there. I don't see how they could force you to tow a running, driving, registered vehicle. Then again, GL does all kinds of strange things. I have friends in the area, and a volunteer to do the recovery & store it if I can't be there on the scheduled day. I'm not sure...
