If it were *my* truck, I'd hook the CUCV up with a tow bar & drive the 818. I haven't driven one yet, but from what I hear, they drive better than a Deuce, and I had no problem doing 500 miles in a Deuce the first time I ever drove one.

The biggest problem you are going to have with a "combined load" is that the route ends up much longer than a direct route...the first dropoff point isn't near a direct route between NJ and SC. That adds more than 200 miles to the trip. It also takes the trip off nice interstates and onto mostly...
Yea, Daniel is the guy I tried getting hold of for 2 days to get the date straightened out, with no luck. Did anyone else get an e-mail with the wrong date listed?

Good way to keep the neighbors MV-friendly. Once you bail them out of a bind, its kind of hard for them to complain about your truck (probably don't have the problem where you are, but I'm getting prepared for it). Nice job!

Strata Blue! Thats the color I was thinking about. The few pics I've seen of the Strata Blue deuces on here look very sharp, and honestly don't look all that military compared to green (the color, not the Deuce itself... Deuces look military no matter what they are painted...) I'm very tempted...
aaahhhh...K, sorry. Sometimes its hard to read the intent of the wording. I've been getting too used to people jumping in with negativity I guess.

This is my first Deuce, but not my first GL purchase. I've bought 4 previous items (a transmission, 2 M105 trailers, and an aircraft tug for Beaubeau), all requiring EUCs. The only problem with this one was the lack of a signed export letter, which I didn't know was needed (wasn't last time I...
If you don't live anywhere near a naval base, how about the blue they use? I just saw a thread showing some of the blue trucks, and they look pretty sharp. Still true to the military vehicle they are, yet different from the typical green. Where I live, I've never seen a blue Deuce in person, so...
:-D I know I'm not alone. And I know there is a good chance things will come out fine. Its just extremely frustrating, especially since I didn't have much money to spend in the first place, and just lost my job this week. And its my first Deuce, so my nerves are on edge even more.

Pretty much any GM 8-lug wheel will fit pretty much any GM 8-lug axle. The problem comes when you try swapping a GM wheel to something else. Dodge and Ford use larger hub diameters. I have some 19.5" dually wheels from a box truck I wanted to put on my Ram, but I would have had to enlarge the...
Stumps, if you reread my post, you'll see that I agree with just about everything you said. Yes, the engineers did a great job of designing a great truck. But compromises had to be made to make it work well in all areas it was designed for. Change the use of the vehicle outside of what it was...
Well it looks like I may lose my Deuce. My EUC still shows "EUC revisions requested from Customer" even though I dealt with that yesterday morning. Live Chat can't get me a confirmation whether its been received, or even if its now correct. My deadline is Monday according to the e-mail they...
Snarky, I got some of the same kind of responses you did when I asked about an aux. overdrive trans in a Deuce. Usually from people who most likely are scared to alter ANYTHING that was designed by an engineer, probably scared to put aluminum wheels on a car because it didn't come that way from...
Hey guys, I just found this ad and thought of y'all. Its not mine, I don't know the guy, I just found the ad. Don't know the values...just passing it along. Included seems to be 2 trucks, which seems to me like a decent deal for someone who needs parts, a project to start, etc. Trucks are in...
Tried the export dept. a couple more times, no luck, got on live chat. I was told that she had no way to check on the export form aua so she had me e-mail OR fax it directly to her. I did both. She confirmed that she received it (and I printed the chat session) and was forwarding it to the EUC...
I'm not so lucky. E-mailed in my export form last night, and faxed it this morning. Waited for a change of status, none, so I tried calling the "direct line" to the guy who handles the export letter, no answer after several tries. I'll try again in a little while, then get back on GL chat...
I think the question begs to be asked...WHY do we need all of this security for purchasing some of these items? I see a few quick issues that pop up, using basic common sense (I know there is very little of it in the govt., and it gets spread very thin) but: 1. If someone who won an auction...
Any reason (besides the initial cost of the tires) not to go with street radials all around? You could single the truck...those are rated for WAY more than you need even in single form. You would cut down on possible tire issues, since the street rubber would be much more reliable than NDTs for...
I did a follow-up chat with GL today, and was told the same thing as yesterday- that my EUC had been passed on to the proper dept. and I would receive an e-mail when the status changes. I got home tonight and found an e-mail waiting for me...apparently I had to sign and fax in an export form...
