Good looking rig. Welcome to the flock.

    M35A2C Fire extinguisher location

Ours float around depending on the particular truck (35s, 800 series, 900 series) but one, inside in the cab for electrical fires under the dash or hood; and another one, outside near the fuel tank but not so close as to be driven back by the flames, are the accepted locations.

    Weekend Fun

Black fenders with solid color hood, cab and bed was the way Dodge did the WM300s when they were being made. Cool rig regardless. The M37 "school bus" may possibly be an ex-air crew bus. We had 'em when I was in Nam. Something to consider for a unique paint scheme if you want something other...

    Fuel pump M37, M35, M38, M715

If it has the volume/pressure it should work OK (some pumps for heater or stove assys don't need to flow a lot of fuel). Place as close to the tank as possible 'cause electric pumps like to push better than pull. If it's for automotive apps. it should self-prime with no problem.

    steering indicator

Mercedes benz Unimog 404s have them. They clamp onto the steering column and are driven by a cogged collar under the steering wheel hub. Shouldn't be too hard to adapt.

    Oshkosh Combat Rims

Oshkosh rims are a standard 10 hole Budd pattern and so will fit any hub with that setup.

Is this Lock rim ok to remove from truck?

Me too, me too. Scrap that rim Gary. The lock rings get tweeked out of round and then are not trustworthy to seat properly. Your hide is certainly worth more than the cost of a replacement wheel and ring. When re-assembling, make sure the ring and ring groove are clean of any crud, rust/scale or...

    Turn Signal Troubleshoot

Try testing for the problem with another light switch; parking lights are the front turn signal bulbs on some circuits. Also sounds like dirty connectors or bad ground(s). When a ground starts to fail the system goes looking for another way to complete the circuit. Sometimes it finds it's way...

DOD Special Agent wants to see my truck

Tracy, California is a small town in my area and it's odd that they would be sending anyone from there to Washington to follow up on a transaction out of Idaho. By all means, get ID including number on badge and/or ID card. Might even give someone ( lawyer, 5 or 6 of your beefier buddies, friend...

    FS Colour Reference Charts

FS colors; here's what ya need. This is the FS595b Color Fan Deck. It's available from GSA and has all the colors used by the fed. govt. from fluorescents for hazard marking to flats for camo... and everything in between. Mine cost me $75.00; not cheap, but it's invaluable when you're...

Any Sheet Metal Bangers in the house?

Wood blocks sawn into formers and dies with small sledge, and a rubber or wooden mallet for direct to sheetmetal work are my tools of the trade. Don't use metal on metal or you'll leave marks. Remember too that flat paints always show less flaws than gloss and that a new, pristine part on a...

    Federal Register

This has to have a limitations point. Does it apply to vehicles only or are axles, engines, or the catch-all "miscellaneous cab and chassis components" included too. What about stuff that has been out of DRMO/GL's hands for years and through several owners? Between what's been converted, parted...

    Jerry can adapter

RE: adapter Mike, I'll look around. jrosbo, Yours may be the type for stoves and heaters and you're right, invert and let flow. The stove or heater has the control valve on it so gravity is used for delivery. There's a picture of a metal frame rack floating around with a jeep can sitting in it...

    Jerry can adapter

If your cap/adapter has two holes on the underside which are both threaded then it's for a diesel with a pick-up and a return. If one threaded hole then it's for gasoline. Ours vent through the adapter assembly. There should be one or two threaded holes on the outside of the adapter which are...

Making hte trip a bit easier

Having worked for the RR and knowing how much clearance there is on tri-level and bi-level auto racks... Getting into and out of the vehicle ain't gonna be easy. OR do you just plan on packing a very large lunch?

    CARC paint

Rougher than normal texture is typical but not always dependable for spotting CARC. Look for "CARC 12/03" ( or some other date) stenciled on the underside of the hood or on the inside of a door. It's to indicate finish and as a heads-up to troops so they don't go grinding or sanding on the rig...

    Looking for Clevis Assem.

Check with your local wire rope and chain supplier too. They make up slings and the like for lifting jobs and can probably help out with the clevis, and attaching it to your cable too.

    Fuel strainer question

Bjorn; if it's like the filter on our old Detroit, the insides look like alternating, flattened, inside and outside star washers (one disc has fingers pointing out and the next has fingers pointing in and so on) made of brass and about .015" thickness. Discs are spring loaded so as to keep...

Whats the secret for split rims?

One thing to ALWAYS take the time to do is to clean any rust or built up gunk off of the lock ring and out of the groove the ring seats/locks into. A little bit of junk there will allow the lock ring to ramp up out of the groove---often when you're well on your way to max inflation pressure...
