    Deuce gun rack in cab

Cab for the baby HEMTT project was an ex-LVS cab. It's rifle mounts are; one on each door with muzzles up and one across the backside of the cab radiator housing with muzzle pointing towards the driver side. In the first few moments of a surprise assault on one's position there's often a...

Fuel Pressures | Lack of Power Issue

RE: Re: RE: Fuel Pressures | Lack of Power Issue Something to consider is that when these trucks are deadlined prior to being sent to DRMO they become; test vehicles for driver's training classes, guinea pigs for mechanics in training, parts-piles-on-wheels to keep the other trucks running, or...

    Dealing with Rust

A big job but the right way is to disassemble the springs, VERY CAREFULLY, and wire brush each leaf, look for places where a leaf tip has dug into the leaf it rides against. If you find that condition, smooth out the rough spot(s) with sandpaper. Though some people say to assemble them dry, I've...

    LMTV

LMTV (M1078 through M1081) is a 4X4 Light Medium Tactical Vehicle and belongs to the FMTVs Family of Medium Tactical Vehicle(s). The 6X6 version (M1083 through M1096) is called the MTV Medium Tactical Vehicle. Surplussing out the later model stuff is getting kinda interesting in that more and...

    Part Hunt help here.

Stronger yeah, but more rigid too. I want to keep the flexibility that the original x-members impart. Just wandering around under the baby HEMTT and realized I have no (read no) x-member(s) from behind the trans forward. If I don't put something back in there it may be like riding a caterpillar...

Project Baby Hemmt - FOR LEONARD

Jason, I got four cabs for $1200. I picked the best and cannibalized to finish out the one I used. Rims were $75 ea and the tires came to about $120 ea. including mounting and new radial tubes for each.

Project Baby Hemmt - FOR LEONARD

Bjorn, mine's an AT-545 N. It's the run-of-the-mill Allison trans that all the FedEx, UPS, rental trucks use.

Project Baby Hemmt - FOR LEONARD

Not as yet, Jason. Trying to keep up my own schedule has me spread kinda thin. I'll have the trans cooler up in place and plumbed in this week and can light off the engine without a geyser of trans fluid from the 1/2" cooler connections on the Allison transmission. Then I'm gonna prime the fuel...

    Part Hunt help here.

To all; Thanks for the offer(s). Don't mind paying the shipping but naturally, closer is better. D, I'll call James at Barstow tomorrow AM and see what one will run me. I've got some stuff to trade him and we'll see what kind of deal I can make. Eric, Lance & Mike; Will let you know how the deal...

Anybody out there scrapping out a deuce? I need the double crossmember out of a deuce frame. OR, two singles I can put back to back.

    Solargizer

RE: Re: Solargizer Just my two cents but I think it matters. Just looked at SCSolar's website and the only Solargizer mounting kits that don't permanently attach are held on by suction cups. Smitty's idea about the velcro is a good one.

air ride seat shock part# if you need one

Do you know if this is the right number for the HEMTT spring seats too?

Opinions needed on Off-road driving capabilities...

Mud is a scarce commodity out here but we do have lots of acreage in rice. All rice field rigs have singles and the thinking is that in muck, the less sidewall friction you have the better off you are for keeping wheels rolling. Also, with duals, you've got another set of rear wheels trying to...

Overhaulin a CNN H1 (or lipstick on a hog)

Thanks for the kind words, Bjorn. Glad we were able to pull that rabbit out of the hat for you.

    CARC paint

Kenny the CARC data sheet specifies a nozzle with a huge hole; .070" I think. You should have no problems with that. I do hear people singing the praises of a cheap gun dedicated to CARC applications and for the throw-away factor 'cause when the stuff kicks off it gets pretty tough to clean out.

Project Baby Hemmt - FOR LEONARD

Definately worth considering Kenny. They're spring over shock and look pretty good. Only thing to consider is the seat to steering wheel clearance. I can measure mine if that'll help.

    CARC paint

No problem getting a rough finish Kenny. Just add ground quartz like Sherwin-Williams does.

One for you Jason. Great looking wrecker Jason. Here's the new kid on the block in my neck of the woods.

Project Baby Hemmt - FOR LEONARD

Clinto, now don't be picking on my engine hoist; it was really handy pulling Bjorn's tranny when we did the rear seal. The extension legs are laying under the baby HEMTT. Would have bought the bigger one but I'm not zoned for it. Baby HEMTT update: Working on the induction system to get air--...
