You got your wife to help you pick up your duece? What a woman. She must be a keeper. I thought I hit the jackpot when I did not get in trouble for getting the Cucv after getting the duece so I guess mine is OK. She did ask me if I was done after I got the Cucv. I just told her that there is...
One point on the Onans. I had a problem with my John Deere 420 with an Onan 20 horse engine. The intake manifold was damaged. I went to JD and they said they could not get anything special order from Onan because they are now out of business. I was able to get a manifold on ebay. The parts for...
Armada,
If you find a good source let me know. After replacing all the fuses and circuit breakers that were removed from my cucv I found that one front and one rear cat eye did not work. Did you take all my fuses? :)

The deuce winch is rated at 10,000 lbs not 10 tons. It's ton rating is 5 tons and I think the snatch block for the deuce front winch is 10 ton or 20,000 lbs. That means the 10 ton snatch block is just right. :) math is tough aua
Jason,
What you say is true of the CCA available when hooked up in series but the draw of a 24 volt starter would be half of the comparable draw of the same starter load with a 12 volt starter. With the same power requirements you would need less amps if you had more volts. I hope this did...
After reading the last rash of posts on the issue I had decided to buy Gillespie from Rapco. I called them today and got the last 3 gallons of Carc forest green and one gallon of red oxide. Right now I just want to be able to paint the parts I am adding for the winch but later I plan clean and...
If anyone needs parts for these I have accumulated quite a few. I have some new rocker panels that I never got around to using. I also have extra from end parts. I am getting ready to sell my 77 snow commander. I will post hear when I do but I would not recommend it for anything other than an...
The metal problem I remember was right around the time that Chrysler almost tanked and the metal problem was cited as one of the problems. Then Lee Iococa (sp) came in and this was one of the things he changed as I remember but that was 20 years or more ago. I agree that washing the junk off is...
I had the same problem until I talked to John Browning and he hooked me up. The cheap prices of Sarafan don't help if they refuse to take my order. This is exactly what happened. I now have my parts and need to get off my but and install this winch.
This is why I was asking about the glow plugs. As soon as I get it turning over I will change out the plugs for some self regulating or limiting type to make sure. Thanks
for the info.

Rizzo,
Let me know I am about to get some paint. I am thinking about getting mine from RAPCO and using Gillespie. I think some have posted that the alfa heaven paint fades quickly. Someone that knows please speak up.

Nonrusted dodge trucks from the 70's and 80's are few and far between. I think I remember being told that Chrysler had problems with the sheet metal they used in that period and all their cars and trucks are really prone to rust. I have a 77 Snow Commander that has rust holes in the upper area...
Mike,
That makes sense. I will have to check for the resistors but the cover is there so I assume they are there. I asked this of you in another post but I will ask here to. The controller has already been bypassed. I see a couple of added wires on a solenoid on the firewall and a big...
It is a very common misconception that the Chevy diesel is actually the olds diesel that olds used. It is wrong but common. I think it comes out of the fact that in the early eighties GM started combining engine types and put engines from different manufatures in different cars. IE chevy engine...
I look at the civy plugs on Ebay and most have a caution that they are not to be used for the military 6.2. I guess it is ok to use in the military 6.5. The info seems to suggest that the 6.2 military plugs are designed for 24v use. If I read posts correctly, the relays should drop the voltage...
I don't know but I doubt it. I don't know of any military vehicles that use mechanical gauges. I keep a mechanical oil pressure gauge for checking out low oil pressure readings from electrical gauges. I run a T fitting and compare the readings from both. You could get a gauge pod that goes on...
