Hmm. Parking outside the pub may not put you on the most favorable list with the law. I'll just keep driving without any plates, or even slow moving vehicle triangles. How could they prove it was me?!?

That one looks CLEAN! You need to drive through some wooded areas and get some patina on it. Oh, and is it legal not to have a license plate light there? I thought that was a cop favorite for pulling people over.

As I recall, it looks like typical GM door seals from the Seventies and Eighties pickups.

I thought most of us cared about keeping rodents out of the cab, but you want to keep a worm in it? Okay, just kidding obviously. Haven't had to replace any, but it sure looks like regular door seals would work.

Adding two-stroke oil for lubricity - this study says NO.

That's what I was wondering; what about the wheel bearings I have that are made to and running happily in oil?!? At one point I did try keeping the oil in my Jeep's rear full floater from getting into the bearings, but soon realized that not only was that work, it was completely unnecessary work.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

What am I missing here? Is a Suburban larger than an M1010??

    Unimog FLU419 Tractor thing?

Well, they must've thought of them being towed at some point, or a SEE wouldn't have gladhands on the front, too.

    Replacing ring gear on 419

I would spend hours trying to fix the ring gear before resorting to replacing it. Anyway, what was the issue with removing the starter? That's an easy job.

I have one I bought to be a parts SEE, and for the second time I ended up with one that's nicer than what I'm using. Except for the forklift damage. If you're interested, PM me. I am not about to start taking any parts off of it, it's way to nice for that.

Using my SEE for real work

Dug grave number three in a relatively short time, out of four total. Practice makes perfect, so I am at least getting somewhat good at operating the backhoe. Was going to check the thermostat for the fans after completing the task, as I was running a (for me) unusually high rpm of about 1,450...

Long overdue, today I finally made some new hood and battery box keys. Someone here asked about them months ago. Bought the Craftsman 8mm sockets (P/N 33084) on eBay for about $2 a piece, and the so-called locomotive key for about $7. The 10mm ratcheting wrenches were around $3 each on eBay...

You're ahead of me (but don't feel special, most people are). I have yet to cut down the Pewag chains for the SEEs, and get the plows and snow blowers out of the shed. Luckily, global warming has delayed the winter a bit, so there's still a possibility that it can get done in nice, dry weather.

    FLU fuel issues

Okay, it's looking better for the Summer SEE. Checked the strainer and there was very little black crap in the bowl. Pulled the drain plug on the tank, and while the hollow part of the plug was full of crap, that was about it - no noticeable debris in the fuel that came out. Looks like Bio-Bor...

Adding two-stroke oil for lubricity - this study says NO.

Not sure if I should mention this or not, but I recently read a test of numerous diesel oils where Lucas placed quite poorly.

Good idea! I was going to cut the excess thread off, but if I have acorn nuts of the correct size that'd be nicer. Kind of lipstick-on-a-pig nicer, but still.

Finally got a chance to make a bracket for the QD couplings for the snow blower on the Winter SEE. Wish I had the time to make something nicer, like I did for the tractor, but while it looks like crap it does work better than zip ties. At least I hope it will.

    FLU fuel issues

Matt at Bel-Metric knows which ones we need for SEEs.

I've used the ZDDPLUS stuff in older sports cars, but have no idea if it actually helped. But I do recall reading that too much zinc is not good.

    FLU fuel issues

I'd think the filters did their job and kept the crap out of the injection pump. The fungus/bacteria is probably all throughout the system, but when even modern and much more finicky pumps can tolerate that, I don't think it's an issue on a SEE. The strainer's mesh can easily be cleaned with...

Oh, 10 degrees isn't particularly cold for around here in the winter. It'll get down to -20 at times. I did make the rounds yesterday, putting anti-gel in most of the tanks with diesel. In the process it became painfully obvious that I need to sell a few vehicles. Counted 15 vehicle tanks (two...
