I have a u tube video that walks through bypassing the FDC. Also, I recall JA Tonka had a web page with his experience with this some years ago that had some great info in it. I did a quick look and wasn’t able to find it. The short version is that prior to bypassing the FDC or modifying the...
My experience was similar to yours. And if anyone does this in 4 hours they must have had everything go right, everything was in rosy shape to begin with, etc. or they did a crappy job. I also replaced all wheel cylinders while I was at it (they had bad rust pitting in them).
I would add to...
That big, huge, gigantic, enormous, massive, immense, colossal, behemoth of a vice is going to overload your front axle and cause the muffler bearings to seize at the worst possible time. Flitin’ with disaster
I purchased a #41947 Draw-Tite Class V Ultra Frame for $174 with free shipping. Aside from being class V rated with a regular 2 inch receiver, it can be assembled for different heights. The TOP of the receiver tube will sit below the bottom of the frame any of these three distances...
I agree that the silicone or other hoses rated for higher temperatures than conventional rubber are a nice to have. My truck stays right at 180°F nearly all of the time and the airflow through the engine compartment should be very good, so it’s not the same as some modern commercial trucks that...
My cab heater is mounted under the dash as gimpy mentions.
I do not have much experience with the heater and plan to verify the levers work as the op manual suggests.
I definitely hear dampers slamming as they are moved.
Whoever installed the heater put a 1/4 turn valve inline with the coolant...
I purchased my truck from a guy and I recall him making a statement about removing the thermostat. I do not know if he did or not.
I recall him discussing it with some old timer, and he decided to put it back in.
Maybe I'll tear it apart and see this Summer.
My truck typically comes up to temp...
I've had a tough time with them also. My understanding is that they are officially "one time use" fasteners for this reason. Many of mine were destroyed getting them off and I just purchased grade 8 bolts and regular locking nuts to replace the ones on my rearmost drive line. You may have to...
I can confirm this is realistic IF nothing goes long such as having cross-threaded bolts on the output flange and not having a torch handy.
If there's anything I would have done differently, I would have removed one or more seat rather than working around them.
I recall there are pics of when I...
Hey pigpin
I’m not sure what you are asking. Can you clarify? There are complete LED tail light housings out there such as:
https://www.easternsurplus.net/PartDetails/324/FMTV-Rear-LED-Brake-Lights
I’ve heard, but don’t know myself, that the change to LED can render the flasher inoperative...
Wow Apache! You actually made a tool to make those gage panels! Brilliant! It looks like you’re doing the forming after the holes are cut, which allows you to make the panels with any hole configuration you please. Are you laser cutting or water-jetting the holes?
