Your truck went thru rebuild at some time in it's life. That is how it inherited the power steering system from the 800-series trucks. It was a good modification, with better performance overall.

I bought a Harbor freight benchtop bead blaster, and did all the hardware and small parts that would fit. A blaster like that eats a lot of air, so a good-sized compressor is a good investment.

That alt is a different make than Prestolite, so the connections aren't the same as pictured above.
The 14ga wire carries the "on" command from the master switch, and needs to be connected to the Alt via one of the small screw terminals. (NOT goround).

You might try doing a full continuity test on the turn signal switch.
The contacts may have fused with the trailer short.

Probably an intermittent ground on wire 91. It will let both filaments light dimly on one or the other dimmer switch position. Fiddling with it may have got a ground going OK.
