    I have used 1X3 strips of white oak as well no treatment and they have held up fine as well you want to be carful useing sealants some will quickly corrode the frame rails.

    Most strips of wood under the bed rails on deuces is mahogany pretty tough and surprisingly rot resistant considering its a conifer tree.

    My ford ranger just fit in the bed of a deuce I drove back from missouri I ended up tow barring the ranger behind the deuce. Between the weight and size trying to get an 09 into the bed of a deuce is a major safety no-no.

    Solenoid is the round silver part on the firewall with two small wires and two large terminals that goes klunk when the GPs cycle they will either start to chatter or will still klunk even when bad they only way to know is to see if it has power coming out when the wait to start light is on.
