    M54 5-Ton Market Vallue

I know that truck, I've helped out the previous owner with parts for it. Very nice rig with the 800-series power steering military upgrade. DG

M35a2 Super Singles Difference & Installation

Caster. Just like casters on a shop cart. Gives a swiveling wheel the ability to turn easily, and return to straight. Nothing to do with beans... Probably easier to go to any 12.00-20 or so, on M34/M135 single wheels. Works great, no mods or adapters needed. DG

Is it true of all the slews of bugs that the deuce has?

All MV's have a degree of quirkiness, depending on the model. The G742 series (M35 et al) has been around a long time, one of the longest serving trucks since 1951 in TACOM. They were upgraded several times in their lifetimes: engines, transfer cases, braking systems. I'd say at least 80% of...

    A legacy M37 recovered

Great write-up on a very successful trip. Another example of what we will do to get, have, and keep MV's on the road! Kudos, first order. DG

Brakes sticking after brake pedal depressed

Look for a blocked (internally collapsed) hose, or perhaps a set of shoes is adjusted too tightly. They will get hot and expand, making things worse. DG

Question about Removing CTIS valves and balancing weights from tires

It's easy to spot the CTIS trucks at our local Guard base: They're all parked in a lopsided row. DG

Assessing tire condition- NDT bias tires

At least no one said "They were made in Australia"... DG

Question about Removing CTIS valves and balancing weights from tires

I run those type wheels and never had the stuff to begin with. I even put tubes in them so I don't have to fool with the big rubber sleeves and O-rings. DG

    New member from Arizona

Welcome aboard. I live just South of Maricopa, been into MV's since the early 70's PM me and we can touch base. Dennis

    Air compressor

My electric travels with me. The giant 1" pneumatic lives in the shop, mostly doing spring U-bolts nothing else will touch. DG

    Original, Spicy or Extra Crispy?

Spicy. However, any mods are done so as to reflect true MV dictum. In other words, most 'judges' wouldn't know the difference. DG

    KY CDL announcement

In AZ a vehicle licensed as a Historic Vehicle (25 years or older) is exempt from CDL and DOT requirements by statute in Title 28 of the Motor Vehicle Code. Saves a lot of hassle, but just keep your insurance in the high $ range just in case... DG

Careful, a divorce could wind up with her owning the truck. Jus' sayin... DG

    Air compressor

I have a portable 5 gal tank I use with my Ingersoll 1". It feeds from the gladhand with a 20' hose. It allows the air to get to the wrench with a short 5' hose 5/8 diameter, and this gets it to 'snap' things loose with ease. By the time I'm ready to move on, it has rebuilt enuf air if the...

    TRUCK M35A2 U.S AIR FORCE

Well, not a little, either. The level-wind winch is nice, put a 14" cargo bed on it and have a really tough hauler, and that transfer case PTO can handle engine horsepower. Most interesting front marker lights... Too bad it is in France, I'd jump on it. DG

    236 knots to zero quick

That is one well-engineered rotorcraft. DG

Inflating tube tires with lock ring wheels

I've written this many times on several military vehicle forums: With Firestone/Goodyear LTS wheels, the "S" stands for safety. With the deep drop ring goes onto the rim first thing, it is very hard for that ring to come off once the tire bead slips up on it. That action forces the ring to...

Inflating tube tires with lock ring wheels

A tip from a guy that has done hundreds of military tire changes: Get a "tire spoon", and after the ring is off, shove it down between the wheel and flap in several places. This will break the bond between those two evil players and let the wheel come out of the tire without more trouble. DG

Torque value for M939A2 combat wheel studs?

I use a Harbor Freight "Earthquake" 3/4" 20 Volt electric impact. It will do a whole trucks worth of lugnuts on a charge. One flat on the road and it pays for itself then. I run those rim nuts to a few seconds after stall. It took some 400 ft-lbs on my torque wrench to break 'em loose...
