I think the tailgates lost the embossing when the HMMWV began to transition from a support vehicle to a front line vehicle, Uncle Sam does not like brand placement on combat vehicles..
Welcome to the forum Rob!!
As far as I know all the bodies are the same in that area.
I do not think I have ever seen a factory HMMWV with rocker plates, all I have seen are aftermarket.
BUT there are plenty of knowledgeable folks here with more experience than I have so if I am wrong they will...
Yes, I just wrap a red rag around the blow gun in the fuel fill pipe, that way I can only build 4-5PSI max which is all you need if the check valves have been removed, I would not even try it with the valves in place, too much pressure you can blow the vent line off the top of the tank. 30 psi...
Have you removed the two check valves directly in front of the fuel tank?
Also have you drained the tank and filled it with fresh fuel? Checked to make sure the fuel pickup sock is not plugged?
Be careful if you decide to pressurize the fuel tank or blow back through the feed hose to the tank...
I do not know if the 4L80 TCM stores codes that are no longer active, most of the later stuff does, in fact I did not think the 4L80 got a dedicated TCM until the mid 2000s (2005?) so the HMMWV may actually be using a modified PCM (powertrain control module) as that is what controlled the...
It is normal for the transmission to not go into torque converter lock until the transmission comes up to temperature. this will seem like it is not shifting into high but much different than being stuck in 2nd.
If it is stuck in limp mode it will not shift at all when in drive, it will start...
Have you checked to see if there are codes from the TCM?
You need to learn how to do it so if there are not any stored codes you can get them on the fly when your transmission is not working properly, that will be the best way to figure out where your problem is. otherwise you are just peeing...
You have a 4L80
You power cycle the TCM by disconnecting the batteries, but do not do that until you read how to get the codes off of the TCM, this should help.
You do not want to erase the codes before you read them.
Do you have a 700R4 transmission? if not you do not have a TV cable.
If you have a 4L80 it sometimes helps to power cycle the TCM but see if you have any codes first.
In fact I have seen this many times and even I am not immune.
A couple months ago I was mig welding a chassis on my lift.
I had failed to make sure the ground lead from the welder was well connected.
The welding current found a "ground loop" in the form of the #12 ground wire from the lift back...
OK just as an example you run a 10ga wire from the battery neg terminal to the engine or body and then the #2 odd cable between the neg battery terminal and the block fails, could be the shunt connections or the connection at the block etc.
You jump in and hit the starter, now all the starter...
Well I will hold that against you, the "grounding kit" is completely unnecessary and IMHO is borderline to a scam, everything in a HMMWV has a return wire and as long as the few original ground points are checks there will be no issues, in fact some of those points are disturbed while installing...
