Does this make my butt look fat?

1000% improvement there. Send the scrap east. There's probably enough for 1 and a half Hondas.

Removing Paint on the Gauge Faces

There's some stuff, available at hobby shops, called Easy Lift Off or Ez Lift Off. Modellers use it to remove paint from plastic models without damaging the plastic. You might want to look into it. Hope this helps.

    Air Tank quick drain valves?

Most of the rust fighters need time to penetrate. A squirt, then hit it with a wrench doesn't get it. I've done repeat applications over the course of a week with good results. For "upside down valves"; open the valve, squirt enough penetrating oil up inside to get it to start to run back out...

    Air Tank quick drain valves?

A lot of rusty bolts, plugs, valves want to shear off because you're turning them in the direction the threads are weakest, against lots of years of built-up rust, corrosion, gunk. Try this trick; after a thorough dousing with a good penetrant like Liquid Wrench, Kroil, Marvel Mystery Oil, try...

    Electrical questions

Here's a listing that's worth it's weight in gold for anyone doing electrical on any M-series vehicle. www.olive-drab.com/od_mseries_circuits.php3 has a list of all M-series vehicle circuit wires by number (little metal tags near any given terminal end). From that you may be able to locate an...

    Metallurgy Questions

Jim's right Kenny. Some of these outfits jump at the chance for a break in the boredom. They'll probably take a piece of untempered stock, form it, including the eyes and any needed holes, and then throw it into their tempering furnace which'll give an even, controlled heat - much better than a...

    Metallurgy Questions

Kenny, Spring stock is available from a lot of steel suppliers and is available as "oil-hardening, water-hardening or air-hardening". Making springs is an art though and I usually go to my local spring shop and let the pros do it for me to get just the right amount of spring tension and...

They're still in use too. I've got a picture of a HEMTT with the pass door mark on it.

    Ouverson stuff, the ultimate test

Locking hub protection Here's a shot of the hub step Unimogs use. These, or something similar, would be a good idea to protect locking hubs and make them look a little less obvious. Added advantage is that you'd have a good perch from which to check oil and do your pre-drive inspection.

    Ouverson stuff, the ultimate test

Just a thought... how about hub steps similar to Unimogs? Would help protect the hubs, kinda make them disappear into the surrounding wheel and would give you something to stand on to check oil and do your pre-drive checks... Waddya think?

    Diff lock side effects

BE ADVISED! An amusing little quirk we've found in vehicles having front axles equipped with locking differentials in hilly terrain; the downhill wheel, because of the weight shifted onto it, will be the one which gets power and traction. This can and does cause the vehicle to rotate and...

    New Paint

HVLP rigs are good for outdoor conditions 'cause more paint seems to get to the vehicle. Like Jed says; consider investing in a BIG sheet of plastic for a drop-cloth/wind-break just to keep the wife happy and neighbors quiet.

    cucv slave...

They're on ebay occasionally. The slave cables come in either the early two-pin connector or NATO one-pin style so be sure the one you're getting will fit your slave socket. The adapters are out there too but they seem to be kinda pricey.

They were in the field rations packs along with such culinary delights as canned chicken or pork (could have been either), an over-sized round cracker that acted suspiciously like civil war hardtack, and chocolate brownies that, in a pinch, could be stacked together and used as anti-tank...

    Need Help! Wont Start

Not always. Liquid fuel isn't compressable but air is and acts like a cushion; the injectors need solid fuel to fire properly. When the high pressure side of the injection pump distributes to a given injector, any air in that line compresses and absorbs the high pressure pulse. It's that pulse...

    Need Help! Wont Start

Sounds like air in the fuel system. Have you tried bleeding the fuel lines and filters after you did the filter change? Air will compress so it acts like a shock absorber and won't let the injectors unload when the IP does it's thing. If you get as far as needing to bleed the high pressure...

    Radio Cover

P.S. Hey, there ain't nothing wrong with baggies and bungee cords. That field-expedient technology has served us GIs well over the years. Anybody remember the juice-cans clipped onto the feed side of M60s to keep the belts from kinking?
