    Follow on to Parade Winners...

Gotta say I like the working truck look. Anything else stands out like a fish in a tree... except in a museum or parade.

    scratchy carc.

Ken, the sheet I got tells about the paint including the pressures for different spray rigs and the curing times. By upping the temperature it can be made to cure faster but as a one-part CARC it takes it's curing trigger from the moisture in the air. No hardeners that I know of will make it go...

    Headlights Upgrade

Sounds like the low beam is hunting for a ground and is putting power through the indicator light to do this. The filiment in the indicator might be acting like a resister too and that's why low beam is dim. Halogens should put out plenty of light on both high and low.

    Deuce project / Baby HEMTT

Hello and Merry Christmas to all. The baby HEMTT project has slowed down due to my Guard outfit getting activated; combined with a deep-seated fear of running power tools in the rain. Am still making small parts like frame-side mounts for the t-case and side marker-light brackets so I can run...

M35A2 Cab sheet metal - Spot welded areas

Depending on the weld-time and tension setting on the spotwelder and how the the weld was done; there is usually a round depression about the diameter of a pencil eraser and about .010 to .015 deep where the tips of the spotwelder pressed into the so-hot-it-was-soft sheetmetal. the rest of the...

    scratchy carc.

Ken, Did you get a data sheet with the CARC? If you're paint job is fresh it'll be a little tender as it takes several days to a week to harden thoroughly, depending on conditions.

    Overcharging?

Generators usually have a large cannon plug that the cable to the regulator plugs into. Alternators are self-regulated and a fairly common feature is a ring of big slots about 3/5 of the way back, sometimes with a cooling fan (like usually found behind the belt pulley) inside for air...

    Outage

Wonder if it could be from some links? The one that was so controversal might have had a few hidden packets of code for anyone clicking on it or could have had spyware tag(s) too.

    Mil. Spec. Color Chips

For all the color, shade and tint questions we ever had; lurking out there is this thing called a Fed Std 595b Fan Deck. It has all the Federal Standard colors from gloss through matte and their 5 digit codes. 50+ pages counting the index with 10 colors per page. They're kinda pricey at $75.00...

    engine block heaters

I don't remember what size exactly but there are block heaters that replace a freeze plug; like in the side of a Cummins 5.9. That would be your quickest solution. Got mine from NAPA.

    Pull off's

Legal disclaimer(s) as req. by law: "Free advice is worth what you pay for it" and, opinions are like noses; everybody has one". That said, If you're chaining the two trucks together to see who can slide who, another trick is to chain close, and high to yours -- low to the other truck. That way...

    Stranger in the yard

We just got a vehicle in for maintenance that I'm not familiar with. Anybody ever seen a mil. spec. GM 1 ton duelly? Full camo and mil spec everything. Sorry, I know it's not a CUCV but this is the closest column I could figure to post this question in.

    Burping the cooling system...

Mine has a plug in the top of the thermostat housing. If yours does too, break it loose a couple of turns and you should get coolant past the threads when all the air is gone.

    Electrical circuit for Dummies (Me)

Need some help here. The baby HEMTT has an alarm for engine stop (no power) and I think it should wire up like a charge light; i.e. Engine stops, no charge, light comes on (on baby HEMTT alarm bell rings). Trouble is, with everything gone to gauges, I can't find a wiring diagram that shows a...
