Correct nomenclature is; Loop, Headache, M*?*#@ dash A. I've found they work best for hitting yourself in the forehead, back of the head or knowking your cap off as you crawl around under the deuce doing maint. or service.
Hello Corne,
I've always heard that the lower end was not as beefy as the later 465s and lost cranks and journals was a recurring problem. Any additional power upgrades such as turning up the fuel will put additional pressure on the lower end. It also doesn't develop as much HP and is often...
I've got a Budd drawing for an 11"X20" rim that is for the HEMTTs. It'll support the 1400X20 and 1600X20 tires. The same wheel is referred to as a "garbage truck wheel" in the big truck wrecking yards 'cause they're most often found on refuse trucks. For the 1100X20s, I understand that the...
Hello and welcome,
The turbo swap is a simple one, just remove and replace but you might also think of finding yourself a 465; the 427s were a problem engine, early vintage and weak in construction.
Same from me on the 427s. It's a weak engine at best.
Don't quote me on this but a lot of the mil.spec. engines are designed to accept parts from each other. That way, if you get into trouble, you're not stuck looking for a replacement part from just that manufacturer. Multifuelers just might be...
Here ya go lad,
Here's a good place to start looking for info;

These are the MSDS' for CARC and a quick glance seems to indicate that breathing the dust is the bad part of dried CARC. Wet sanding should fix that problem. Might be handy to download...
First, let me say that I'm not the end authority on CARC... and that free advice is worth what you pay for it.
From what I can gather, the bad part of sanding CARC is releasing very tiny particles of the silica and heavy solids used to texture and color CARC, into the area where you're...
Yeah... Just wish I could run a personal vehicle or two through once in a while. 'Course mama might not be too pleased to get her Escalade back with fresh CARC all over it.
Nope, sorry; just saw the links. Our tactic is to just paint over the existing CARC or send it to depot. We're always getting reminders of how bad it is to sand and how much protective gear should be used. The ground quartz, silica and heavy metals in the early stuff makes it pretty unfriendly...
Hello again Ken,
Who/what is alpha-heaven? tried a search but couldn't find anyone that looked like a paint or surplus dealer. The baby HEMTT is currently on hold for paint.
Thanks
I'm a Chevron Delo fan myself. 15-40w seems to be a good all 'round weight. Lucas is a good additive as is PowerPunch; which is also the same brand I use for their gear oil additives.
Happy deucing.
Thanks for the tip Ken. I thought I had a line on some here but it turned out to be a wild goose chase. Also tried S-W out here and they only want $117.00/gal. with a four gallon minimum.
Most of the twin turbo set-ups I've seen look like one turbo just feeds into another. How about two small turbos on a split exhaust manifold; each plumbed into a dual-feed manifold top-plate like Banks has for some of their aftermarket kits. Two small turbos would spool up faster and together...
Ahh, addiction is such a sad state fo affairs. I'm sitting here trying to figure how to make my CTD turbo sing to me. Otherwise, it's time to build an adapter plate for the "C" I've got stashed so as to mount it on the Cummins.
