We lost power last night at about 10:30 PM. I ran the MEP003A until about 11:30 AM this morning. Fantastic machine and the only piece of military surplus equipment I've bought that my wife actually likes!
You should seldom need ether to start your truck. I would replace the bottle, but if the weather turns extremely cold and you know you will need the truck, put a block heater on it. I have a magnetic one that I use when needed, which is seldom.
This is a very good comment. If my MEP003A doesn't immediately start firing, I stop and manually lift the fuel cutoff solenoid with my fingers and then release it. The engine almost always immediately starts.
The MEP003A is a very good genset. Very dependable. You need to thoroughly clean out the fuel system and change the oil and filter before doing anything else. I have listed some part numbers to get you started.
Oil Filter:
FRAM CH6PL
NAPA 1004
Fuel Filter:
FRAM 1125PL
NAPA 3113

Note that camo or "military" paint schemes are illegal in some countries. I would suspect that there are a lot of countries that forbid driving an ex-MV on their roads, or even the temporary importation. Be prepared for massive paperwork challenges for some countries. You also need to check...
I entered my M1030M1 USMC diesel motorcycle in the North Georgia Motorcycle Show today in Blairsville, Georgia. I won first place in the Special Interest Category. They didn't have a category for military motorcycles. The weather was somewhat poor. I had to ride to the show in the rain, but...
I got home last night with no problems. Unfortunately, I had to leave for home directly from the hardball convoy because of a commitment to the 4H. As usual, I had a fantastic time. Thanks to Welder1 and crew for the hospitality. Rained about half of the trip home. I was carrying a load of...
I just about had to go clean up as well! I got my brakes fixed today. A steel brake line that appeared to be in good condition split open. All I had left was the front brakes. Fortunately I had an A3 with split brakes.
I've had a setback. While driving to Hiawassee to fill up my M35A3 with diesel, a small car pulled out right in front of me. I was going about 45. I stood on the brake pedal as hard as I could and locked up all six wheels. I barely missed the car, but now my brakes aren't behaving right...
Here are photos from the actual trailer. The trailer has electric brakes and an electrically actuated dump bed. You would have to wire up the controller, which is included, for the electric brakes and dump function. I'm going to bring the trailer to the GA Rally along with an ATV so you can...
