I put seats and a console in my other M1009 this weekend. Seat came out of a wrecked PT Crusier and were easy to adapt to the existing seat brackets. I made a custom bracket to mount the chevy console. Chris
I have been doing a bunch of work on the redo of one of my M1009's and thought some of the folks on the boards might enjoy the pictures. I just put in insulation and carpet, a Chevy console, and then put in the stereo head unit and the two front speakers. I have made side panels and top rail...
I will look into the corner issue. The corners are schedule 40 pipe, and gusseted on three sides. The friend helping me is a professional metal fabricator and welder, with lots of race expierence, but I do want to be safe right side up, or upside down. Chris
When done it will be to the frame, not sheet metal. (pipe to plate to frame, otherwise I agree it is a waste of time). I am not that concerned on wheel wells, but certainly am on the two hoops. It is just partially tack welded now, and I agree not very pretty, yet. I like the prefab corners...
I am in the process of putting a roll cage in one of my M1009's. I am using schedule 80 pipe, and gussets, and it seems to be shaping up pretty nice. Thought some folks might like to see pictures. Chris
I am going to convert it to 3/4 ton 4:10 gears (have those completed already) with a 3" lift and 33" tires, and have a big block 454 to go in it. Should be able to live up to all the flames eventually. Chris
Nice, but not original leather seats can be found in a good salvage yards at a reaonable price. I am using some in a M1009 rebuild I am doing. The ones I found are very nice and were very inexpensive. Also found a nice console to go between the front buckets. I am doing front and rear bucket...
LMC Truck on the internet also sells the spray on dye. I have used it on a number of interior pieces, and I have had very good luck with their product. Chris
Rear seat folds over and then forward against the back of the front seats. I am not sure on the width, but I think a 42" seat will clear between the fender wells, as I had thought about an aftermarket back seat at one point. Chris
I found the weapons tray I was looking for from a member on the boards. I am now looking for a HMMWV turret to purchase, if any one has one for sale or knows were there is one available. Send me a PM or post a reply. Thank you. Chris
I have looked around the one in Rolla and have not seen any CUCV parts. I am not sure of the name and number of the owner. There is a house on the property, but there is never anyone around. Chris
I am in the process of putting a roll cage in my 1009 and then the plan is to add a fairly nice stereo system. I found something in the salvage yard (never say Junk) that I think will work for me and thought I would pass it along to any other member that is interested. I found a couple of late...
I needed another Blazer like a hole in my head, but I just couldn't stand it and couldn't help myself. I am going to have to look for a CUCV 12 step program. Chris
