My opinions here. The Norway trucks had air lockers in all 3 axles. They abuse the trucks pretty well and my contact there has never reported axle failures. With that said, they don't run 395s. As far as drivability, with no power going to the front axle, the Detroit will be all but invisible...

Interesting. In my years of experience dealing with deuces and multifuels, the White branded engine seems to suffer more catastrophic failures the hercs and continentals. No hard data, just my 20 years of deuce ownership.
The bedsides will be slightly altered and attached to my wrecker bed. By doing it this way the bed won't look a foot higher than the cab. If it looks stupid then I'll take another route.
