Thats what the TN says and those are the step i did. But i don't get voltage from the 5A output alternator wire. Question Can someone tell me what the 2A and 568 wires are for or where do that go?
Somewhere in this site's bowels (can I say that on this board?) there exists a LIST of common...
Many years ago my brothers and I sat down with a JC Whitney catalog and added up all the gas saving/increased power/mpg features of all the water-injection, high-flow air filters, micro-atomizer screens for carburetors, hotter spark gadgets, all the rest, you could run a Camaro for a year on one...

Hold out for a 6.5L GEP engine.
If you have no intention of cruising on the interstate, the venerable TH300 turbo 3 speed is good enough, IF it’s running through a 242 model transfer case.
There’s more, much more, but read the...
Alternator should be putting out north of 24 volts. Could be alternator, regulator, PCB would be last on my list of concerns.
Go back to the troubleshooting section on testing alternaotr, but clean up your connections/terminals first, check grounds.
I’d connect the alternator housing - ground...
Um, not really. There’s a kit, #57K3520 that supplies all the parts you’ll need for the alternator update. It uses a different bracket, LONG bolt, much heavier duty cable to the + (pos) stud in the battery box, and more.
I’m in the throes of getting mine installed, just painted the power...
Well, poked around a bit, got a line on a “kit engine” meaning clean, all parts ready for easy assembly.
Cheap.
Engine block # 12555506, date cole H020 (Aug 02, 2000).
So far as I can tell this is far beyond the cracking blocks/bolt hole problems, don’t know about the heads. Doubt they’re...
Some of you might find this interesting follow on to my post about breaking my truck.
I did some work with lighting and mirrors and a dewalt electric drill with a left-hand drill to get that broken stud out. I’d loosened one of the header bolts and I could turn it with thumb and index finger...
did a websearch for “HMMWV AND EGT”
Several useful links.
Might’ve answered a few of my questions with this article:

Been following this thread for a bit now...
Does anyone have GOOD, solid, data on what range of EGTs (and measured from what point in the exhaust system) are NORMAL for stock/OEM 6.2L DT, NA, TD engines and, likewise for the same of 6.5L series engines AS ISSUED TO MILITARY use.
Seems to me...
Last spring I bought a 45 degree silicone pipe connector with a 3" ID to match the exhaust pipe, THREE lengths of the press-together gas water heater chimney pipe at home depot and one of those connectors that allow you to make any bend in the pipe up to 45 degrees.
Connections go like this...
Even though I have a battery disconnect switch, if I do something electrical more than, say, changing a headlight, I actually disconnect a battery TERMINAL. Not paranoid, switches fail.
Broke my truck.
In preparation for installing the 200A alternator I’ve had for 2 years, I pulled the 60A alternator, bracket, powersteering pump (also going to change out, made all kinds of racket last time I used it just to reel in a new cable, overheated, seemed like a good idea to replace)...
Thanks for responding, I was waiting for you to dive in (seemed like a question that would pique your interest).
Looking like 6.5 GEP is the way to go "for a spare" and yes, to other posters, I do expect, no, anticipate, this engine won't last forever.
I don't have "spares" for my other...
Well, it's not a "bolt-in".
There's a wiring harness to think of, that's about another $250 to $750 investment and it's got to be the right one to match the year/model M998.
For parts availability, relative "ease" of replacement (no wiring harness issues mainly), and price - no one's giving...
Got an offer from a friend for a 1983 6.2L civilian Blazer/GM motor with about 47k miles on it. Was on a plow truck and salt/rust has killed the truck so he's parting it out.
He's got the engine set up for a serpentine belt drive, new 12V civ. alternator, water pump, fan/etc, all of which I'd...
