M998 No POWER to ANYTHING 6 volts only !

Check the wiring harness forward of the steering column. When I got my truck several years ago, my PCB was toast - hard starting, eating GPs, etc - replaced it with an S3 box, but I also had a loose steering column due to some broken aluminum tabs made out of unobtanium, so I bought a complete...

New to the group from Middle Tennessee

Franklin? Just up the road from where I’m retiring in a few years (Hampshire). Welcome to the group. If you’re interested in a HMMWV, I always recommend people start with reading through the “What I did with my HMMWV today” thread in the HMMWV forum. There’s an inestimable wealth of...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Wow. Arrogance. Ignorance. Condescension. Folly of youth. If you’ve never known anyone to go through what USAFSS-ColdWarrior is describing, have never sat through depositions in personal injury cases, never known anyone to lose their life savings defending themselves in such a case, lose...

    Time delay module self destruct

Good luck with that. I’ve never had any luck disassembling potted components.

    Time delay module self destruct

I believe this is why DoD went with the newer KDS module. 12338603 They’re available, maybe someone will come along and offer one to you for a reasonable price. NB

    MEP802A 3-Wire 240 Hookup Help

Call me old-fashioned, but every mechanic’s toolbox should have a good VOM (volt-ohm meter) in it, even a cheap free with $25 purchase from Harbor Freight pocket model will work for measuring voltages and continuity in circuits. L1-N(ground) gives 120V more or less, as does L3 to ground, but...

The HMWVV as a farm vehicle

That’s awesome, and inspiring. This is how I intend to use my HMMWV on our farm in TN in future years, more or less. Winch for hauling logs out of hollers, dragging logs to splitter, running 120VAC inverter for tools out in the field, hauling mule and horse pooh to composting/gardening soil...

    new old guy in Alabama

HMMWV? I'd advise starting with reading every "What did you do to your HMMWV today" post over in the HMMWV forum. Skim if you need to but it'll give you an idea of common issues people ask about. Welcome to the madness. Norm

    24-12v conversion diagram any help?

I missed something in translation there, RTW. You mentioned this earlier, about the rear battery. Not having owned a 24/12V system before, I had no way of knowing how to wire it and used the rear, spare, battery I’d mentioned. IF you tie the 14V output to the REAR battery from which you’re...

    24-12v conversion diagram any help?

Hooh, boy. Imagine a line of AA batteries laid end to end, 16 of ‘em, so as to make up 24 volts (a bit more with fresh alkaline AAs, lower with recharchables). Tapped from + to -, you get full voltage. Regulator stops pumping electrons as resistance to flow increases as batteries charge...

    24-12v conversion diagram any help?

The "shunt" is the candy-bar shaped "block" of flat plates on the tunnel side of the battery compartment, left side of the commander's seat. "In electronics, a shunt is a device which allows electric current to pass around another point in the circuit by creating a low resistance path The...

    24-12v conversion diagram any help?

Fuse as close to source as possible, otherwise wiring/connections frequently sacrifice themselves in fire under high current draw to save the life of the fuse.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I put in an order with LCI back in September. Received part of the order - twice - they sent a return label no problem, but I never got the jerry cans. In December, I contacted my CC/bank and said, hey, I never got these. Within days, I had a refund for 2 “cans” and shipping. Great service...

Changed fuel filters in MEP-803A... now it won't start.

I'm more of an experiential type mechanic. If I open a tap and no water comes out, I don't travel to the reservoir to see if there's water before backtracking from the faucet to the shutoffs underneath, to the mains to see if my basement's flooded, then out in the yard to see if water's...

Changed fuel filters in MEP-803A... now it won't start.

there are diesel fuel return lines from the injectors you can disconnect and see if fuel's coming out of them or if it's another problem. I only know this because mine were so damaged they leaked all over the engine while it was running when I first got it. Good luck. Keep us posted.
