might be pushing the 3.5 ton jack a little. when that close to to its rated limit the seals tend to die faster.
would go with an 8-12 ton bottle jack.
I picked up 6 ton jack stands and a 12 ton bottle jack for about 70$

I'd expect one or the other, not quite sure i can figure out both. if you are considering the turbo to be a total loss at this time then you could cap the oil line going to the turbo. that should solve the oil leak and oil pressure issue. the turbo would...
I'm about 3 hours from there. If he was in bad enough shape and needed tools I could probably help.
Turbo going out shouldn't be a trip ender unless it threw some blades into the engine. if it seized then he would probably just have to adjust the fuel, keep driving and replace the turbo later.

to properly repair a sidewall puncture you have to not only patch it but also inject the hole with vulcanizing compount to keep contaminants from getting to the ply's causing cord...
That means a repair completely cutting out the cording in that area, patching, filling and blending the area.
I'm feeling a lot better about some cosmetic weather checking repair. The key with the weather checking seems to be preventing it from getting bad enough to damage the cording.
I've been researching it all morning, I am going to look them over very carefully and as long as no cording is exposed I'm going to clean and buff the areas and squeegee a layer of 2 part cold vulcanizing repair compound around to fill the cracks and further protect it from more UV/ozone damage...
the only ones with anything deep enough to hit cordage are the 2 kumho tires. all the goodyear tires look like shallow dryrot splits to me or what some call weather checking.
I don't have much experience with tube type tires, won these on ebay for the cost of shipping but didn't expect to see so much dry rotting on the sidewalls.
I put a gauge on them and they are all aired up to ~45psi. I only removed the valve core from one to attempt a tire dismount.

I missed out on a drop side a month ago because I wasn't sure about it. hadn't previewed it and it had a rope tied to the throttle pedal to pull it back up when it stuck. it still went for under 1600. but I don't think most people saw it when searching...
I've been thinking about this particular mod also sinc eI want to use the duece for my driveway and landscaping. otherwise it will involve full reverse and a solid application of the brakes to unload ;)
it's a kit that lets you use common spin on filters with check valves instead of the the stock inserts.
its cheaper/easier to get a filter when you need one, and the check valves help provide you wil oil pressure faster on startup.
how are they ever going to sell anything to new buyers if it takes 60-70 days the first time for an EUC to clear once they recieve it from GL and they cancel the sale after 70 days?
