thier was a bullitin on the 5 and 10 kw tqg sent to all services a few years back. i have it stored somewhere just couldnt find it tonight. the problem was with the a1 bridge rectifier circut. if the gen. is held in the start position to long voltages can peak at over 400 vac across the quad...
one of mine did this. the only meter that worked was the dc charging. it turned out to be the ground strap underneth the control panel box. the aluminum oxidized badly, cleaned it up.
the 002 is going to vibrate alot more than the 003, nature of the beast. i was going to suggest adjust valves as this made a big differance to mine. might recheck, if out a little it can make a big differance(vibrate). it will run on one cylinder but will take its time to come to speed. try...
i dont know anything about this set, but have seen them come up for auction, nice motors. 7.5 kw 28 volt dc. their should be some output lugs somwhere. i guess you could see if its making correct voltage. maybe someone off grid might have a use. lots of dc amps.
this is a fuel pick up i have for diesel. compresion fittings non collapseable 20 ft. fuel line, all millitary surplus. i have 55 gal. or this 15 gal. drum. the other pictures are of a 017 gas gen. with barb. fittings.
yes strip the wire (i solder the end) run it throgh the split bolt. i have a similar 016a set 3 kw. when set to 120 volt single phase it will make 30.2 amps. so 10 ga. wire should do it.
try posting this over at (smokstak) post it under onan generators somone might know something. try to get model spec. and srerial no. i dont think its military, note the plug wires unshielded.
looks like an civilian onan cck engine usually in the 5kw range. almost looks like a piece of highway equipment and may not be 50s vintage i dont think the cck eng. goes that far back it also has a alternator not gen. on it.
old thread, i guess your talking about this mod. to the v/r just remove wire under #8 ter. on v/r splice in the fuse holder. this is on my 802a, hopes this helps.
ive had a few that did it. yes remove the a/c box side cover and loosen the bolts on the switch even one. i taped the knob and it would turn once i get it on 120/240 i dont mess with it again. dont force it. these switches get alot of dirt in them. if you wont to attempt flushing with contact...
the 017a is 5kw, 2 cyl. 42 ci. engine . ive load tested mine at 7.5 kw. they use about a gallon per hour. very loud 82 db. at 25 ft. the cover is an someones add on. good unit for the $
try to bring a load bank with you. 4(6kw) small 1500 watt heaters work good. this will put some preasure on the rods(listen for adnormal knocks) and will check govenor adjustment.
