Hello everyone. I wanted to introduce myself and post up this build/restoration.
I wanted to say I have really enjoyed this forum. It seems like a great community of people. I've learned a lot already and am eager to learn more and contribute if I can.
Like a lot of you I am a mechanic...
Jeff thanks for doing this!
Just so everyone doesn't think Jeff is shamelessly plugging his kit LOL, I asked him to take some videos and pictures for me, including befores and afters. So I asked Jeff if it was OK and if he didn't mind, to start this thread.
Patracy inspired me to go for the...
Coug just wow. Thanks for the information. Augi thanks as well.
This truck has a 6.5 and 4 speed from another truck (newer truck)........will be getting a turbo put on it.
I'm thinking with the 6.5 and especially the turbo the 2.56 will be good especially going 70-75 mph.
Augi I don't...
Another question..........if the truck isn't used for hauling or heavy loads and I want better highway cruising.........the 2.56 is best gear ratio??
I think it will affect the 'take off' by being slower (especially if heavy).......but better top end. Correct?
From a thread post from RetiredWarHorses.........maybe this is the answer.
Easier is too tell what model year the truck is...
85-94 A0-A1 have 2:56
all A2’s have 2:73
ECV on up, 3:08
Can anyone confirm the gear ratios used in the differentials and when they were changed??
My understanding is they went from 2.56 to 2.73 and then 3.08. But what years were they used/changed?
I was able to get some great leads. This forum is full of great people/resources. Invaluable.
elijah95 reached out to me and was 'local' so he was able to use his 7-ton and got it there quickly. Thank you.
simp5782 also reached quickly and was helpful.
Thanks again everyone. Will post...
This is great work! Thanks for doing this. I am now convinced this is the route I want to go.
I'm still trying to understand the routing of the exhaust. Does anyone have pictures of how the exhaust is routed 'normally".......I don't have access to these skills LOL.
I have similar question especially regarding the supports on the windshield.......seems like the OEM aluminum top is 'draped' over the A pillar windshield frame.
Love it. I think I’m going to have to do this too!
what’s the issue of any with air conditioner? I’m planning on putting it in but not in yet. Anything to do ahead of time to avoid issues later?
Subscribed.
Question: Are there differences in the 6.2 and 6.5 engines that are NA compared to the turbos? In other words are the NA engines/cases the same as they are in the turbos or were the turbos beefed up or somehow different?
Thanks for that.........was wondering more what the advantage is in the new design?
It seem like the radiator may be larger/longer which the ECV hood may allow?
