We've been using the Optima batteries for quite some time now, they last longer than the U6TL batteries which don't seem to like off-roading very well. We recently went to the Marine/RV Optima blue-top model in one of our deuces. the extra terminals work out great.
The local Interstate Dealer...
wow,
fast replies. thanks for the answers, we were curious as to what they were.
There are two of them in the back of the yard at the Texas Facilities Commission Federal Surplus yard in San Antonio.
Available to Govt and tax exempt agencies only, they are supposed to sell the stuff to the...
We use our W/W to pull out other brush / grass fire trucks, mostly 1 tons and other deuces. ( or ourselves :) )
We pulled out a 5-ton once that was buried to the axles, that took two deuces.
Mostly we lock the winch and use the truck to do the pulling. After we broke our original shear pin we...
I think it was around $300 to $400 including the muffler...
That was back in 2006, and I've slept since then lol.
I do remember that the muffler shop had to special order the 3.5" pipe.
Here are some:
We re-routed both of our M35A2 Exhausts similar to pic 2.....
we ran 3.5" pipe on one of them, and 3" on the original non-turbo before we added the turbo
We originally had mufflers on both, but have since removed one.
wow....
I was wondering why I started getting PM's asking about this stuff all of a sudden.
Mod's please close this thread, this stuff has been long gone since July 2009.
Skycop,
I called Gensco today, they said that they now keep the 14.5 x 20 tires at the Alabama warehouse. They have trucks running back and forth between locations and can ship the tires you want to one of the Texas locations for free.
I was told $200 for new 14.5 x 20's, and $150 for used very...
Try these guys,
They have tons and tons of military tires, used, but most are in like new condition.
If they don't have the size you need, they can call two other storage areas and see if the other storage areas have them.

lol.
I think they were using it to straighten out the lip of sheet metal in the picture at the top of where the radiator goes that was bent putting the engine in, or maybe they were using it for the timing :O
The new engine came with all kinds of paperwork, showing the spec's, each cylinder...
We have two certified diesel mechanics in our VFD, and the manual for the engine(s), the engine was re-timed per the manual, and with advice from the guys on this forum when we added it. It's my understanding that the original non-turbo engines were timed differently.
If that was the case...
lol
Very True...
The old engine was a Continental LD-465-1C multi-fuel non-turbo. We added a "D" turbo, re-timed the injection for a turbo engine, and bypassed the FDC.
pics are of the new engine getting it ready to install.
The forklift was picked up at DRMO in San Antonio for $1000.
Our M35A2 W/W brush truck started having some engine noise recently, but our mechanic couldn't trace the exact problem.
We decided to go ahead and swap out the engine, we recently picked up two new/rebuilt engines at the DRMO yard in San Antonio for $600 each, plus we have a 3rd engine we...
Somewhere I got this pic of another M36 doing Fire Service in Texas:
Maverick1701,
Did the bed on the A3 came from another Deuce? There are quite a few Deuces and 5-tons in use as brush fire trucks around here.
In case you didn't know, DOT 3 and DOT 4 specifications are for glycol based (regular) brake fluid, while DOT 5 is for silicone based brake fluid.
Another local VFD used regular brake fluid in their deuces and eventually completely fried the brake systems in both of their trucks.
We get DOT...
Thanks for the info, I'll pass it on to our mechanic. Both of the 900 series there have the CTIS removed and have the single tires.
If we went with a 5-ton,we were planning on using a bumper like our other truck, that would have room for the hood to tilt
Thanks for the info all,
The trucks sit at the yard in San Antonio for a year, if an agency does not pick it up, it is sold to the public after a year. Someone on the deuce forum recently picked up a M35A3 from there that we had previously looked at. these are the first 900 series I have seen...
