Embarrassing - Looked all over at TMs

I’d thought about that, then I’d have to get a new gasket or anneal the old one, bleed the thing, and it was a couple steps more than I wanted to follow. Have the socket though.

Adding two-stroke oil for lubricity - this study says NO.

Confounding variables. The basis of scientific analysis is control the variables then pick one you’d like to focus on to see how it changes under changing conditions. All of us are starting with old - in some cases 30 to 50 years old - engines of dubious service and maintenance (Hey, private...

You changed the temperature sensing unit too? Glow plugs in good condition?

Embarrassing - Looked all over at TMs

I had the same questions a while back and for similar reasons - spares, investment, engine still wasn’t running right (new S3 box fixed that right up) - and I got several answers, the most interesting being the length depends on the heads, there apparently having been two different style/depth...

Man, where's that popcorn emoji when you really need it? Checked my stash, 25 gallons of RotellaT 15w-40 CJ4 and a half dozen of the ZDDP additive bottles. With one HMMWV, annual driving just a few hundred miles, I should be good for a few years. This has been entertaining, informative...

Curious how the synthetic would do taken slowly as the others were. Also, the MSDS for Head and Shoulders shows 1-5% Selenium Sulfide as an active ingredient. Which takes us back to SULFUR being removed from diesel oils and fuels leading to component damage. Thanks for sharing.

    HMMWV Overheat Q's and pictures

From the article: "So you hook it to one battery, then wire it to the transmission control light, giving you the 12-volt ignition source you need." Hoo-boy. Where have we heard THIS before. Hook anything 12V up to one battery and watch the battery/charging circuit failures begin popping...

? Russell Speed Bleeders and HMMWVs

Just spent yet another unfruitful hour searching for this topic related to HMMWVs (NOT Deuces, NOT M1008s, CUCVs or all manner of other posts NOT dealing with HMMWVs). aua Don't think it's me, the search function on this site is a little hard to narrow down even from within the forum searching...

    Sets of hard doors..

Anyone looking for a set, PM me, I’ll put you in touch w/ a guy in Lothian, MD. His dad was Decodeme2 - died in a car accident back in April - his son’s selling off a boatload of hardware, parts, cars (Deuce, bobbed deuce, LMTV and several late model low mileage HMMWVs). I got pick of the...

    Grounding MX-6707 on 12V Vehicle

This is good. http://www.comportco.com/~w5alt/antennas/notes/ant-notes.php?pg=9 Skip to the conclusion and read from the beginning for better understanding. NB

    Grounding MX-6707 on 12V Vehicle

The whip antennas are generally dipoles (although how they do it - how it's wired, mechanically arranged - I don't know) and broadcast signals pretty effectively for their design and dimensions. On the base of the antenna is a switching circuit to select the combination of matching circuit for...

Yeah, my bad. Working, posting between patients. Reread and dug some more, and you're right, it looks like they BOTH have about the same amount of Sulfur at least, some zinc, lower than former industry standards. The additive still seems like good insurance. I have a tractor supply account...

    Dash electronics

While you're at it, DEOXIT. There are other compounds, but many of the contacts, especially blade/stud types connecting to the instrument cluster corrode over time. Dissimilar metals (zinc plated copper connectors on steel nuts/studs). A small tube is just a few bucks and it goes a long...

You know, this can get old real fast. I'm under the impression the "correct" Rotella T is the CJ-4 API rated oil. https://prodepc.blob.core.windows.net/epcblobstorage/GPCDOC_Local_TDS_United_States_Shell_Rotella_T_Triple_Protection_15W-40_(CJ-4)_(en-US)_TDS.pdf Poking around it seems the...

    Grounding MX-6707 on 12V Vehicle

It’s not just electrical. There’s a reason the antenna matching circuits (coils) inside the base are connected to the body with a braided strap. The braid carries RF better than it can conduct through those star washers, although everything is electrically bonded together so the body can act...

Nice truck. When I picked mine up from Decodeme2 (RIP), I thought it was a pretty clean truck. We went back to the house to do some paperwork and I watched his son powerwashing the heck out of marine HMMWV. I think there was more mud/sand/debris than truck. When I asked him if mine started...
