Question. What’s wrong with this picture?
Answer. Two different size fittings. Between the crossover and the water pump.
The smaller being on top leaked no matter how much I torqued down the hose clamp.
This wasn’t at all obvious to me when I first changed the hose - it’s a tight fit getting...
Um, ether? In a HMMWV?
Step away from the can, son.
White smoke’s unburned diesel.
Start with glowplugs (check, replace) and S3 box (PCB).
Springs? Several threads beating that one to death. Retiredwarhorse has had a lot of input into this.
Go to the HMMWV forum (here), and start going...
I bought a couple last time they had them on sale - months ago.
If you‘re looking for a permanent ground rod for your generator at home (or ham radio tower), a ground rod from the big box stores runs about ten bucks, a piece of 10 foot conduit about the same, and a garden hose fitting around...
Curious, looking at putting one in my HMMWV, I did an NSN-now search for the part # and found ONE seller, with six in stock. Gave him a call this AM, got an email several hours later. He has them. $72 each plus S&H.
Ouch.
You guys found a great deal there.
The actuator bar - thing on the rubber seal from the master cylinder - is supposed to be flat.
Looks like someone overbraked, overloaded, otherwise abused the heck out of the hardware. just remove the pin and flip it around (I THINK it's a peened, not welded, fit).
Um, yeah. mine was perfectly flat, straight. I stripped some paint overspray off it and used it again no problem. I think you could easily straighten yours out in a vise with a 2" deadblow hammer. Not sure how it got bent, considering how it's mounted to the master cylinder and springs.
There's room at the back, on top. The inertia damper (shock) slot for the cross-bolt/pin stops short of the rear of the cast housing by about two inches. Simple 3/8" hole and a 1" pin would stop movement, but again, according to the mfr, it's not needed.
It's reassuring knowing what's inside...
From the manufacturer's website: http://www.silvereaglemfg.com/military/cargo_trailer_ltt-l.shtml
The freebacking system's built into the M1101/1102 trailers already. I THINK it's in the design of the leading-trailing shoes and some mechanical disconnect inside the hub's braking components...
Just a thought, but who was the original manufacturer of these doors?
I had a friend a few years back who fulfilled a childhood dream when he bought a Delorean DMC-12. A LOT of guys wanted one, so much so there was someone who bought out all the old stock parts and dies (If I recall correctly)...
Sorry, no inside pics, but the instructions in the manual for reassembly coudn’t be clearer.
I like knowing what’s inside stuff, and judging from how corroded the shafts on the shocks were, I figured the internal damper might also be t*ts up. It was. I think it was frozen in place. I...
Reassembled surge brake on M1102, replaced rivets holding fuel can bracket with - TA-DA! - rivnuts (what else?). WAS going to fill and bleed system but it was starting to rain and it was nearing dinner time.
Yesterday I replaced four of the frame-mounted nuts for the cover/bow/bracket bolts...
Maybe for their military jet collection?
I'm still amazed at people buying whole house generators of the 15-30 kW variety for "prepping." Like there's going to be GAS (LPG, gasoline) available when the EMP hits.
A small tactical quiet 5-10 kW DIESEL engine makes SO much more sense to me.
