It could all be a blessing in disguise, alpine44. Now you can seek out a better one - and maybe for less money, especially in the long run.

You may be able to live without the doghouse if you have very effective hearing protection. My advice for jump starting the SEE once it arrives is don't. Look things over and check fluids before any starting attempts. Then, jump starting a 24 Volt system is the same as with 12 Volts, except...

Stuck backhoe bucket pin on SEE

Yep, that and where the SEE came from. Being that mine lived near Tacoma, Washington, it even had moss growing on it in places. And peakbagger, I also bought slightly larger snap ring pliers afterwards, just in case.

4l80 6.5 flywheel cover and torque rods.

If you can't locate one, consider making one - or having one made - from a common 4-bolt version. It's only a matter of some welding and minor machining.

It'll be an easy fix - if you have power to the temp sensor. If not, I hope you kept one of those nice wiring charts for yourself...oh, wait, those circuits aren't on there, are they?

I've thought about running two 12 Volt fans instead of the harder to find 24 Volt versions, and apparently the military also thought that it would be a good idea for cooling FLU hydraulics. Of course, the downside is that if one fan goes bad, both will stop working.

4l80 6.5 flywheel cover and torque rods.

That would be the factory setup on a '91 Crew Cab. Of course, only about 1,500 of those were made. If you can't find the rods, making your own should be easy enough.

    GM 10 bolt....

Don't we all know what a busted Gov-Lok looks like? I barely remember what they look like while still intact, though.

    CUCV Evaluation

Yeah, it was originally bought to be the recipient of a very healthy 6.5, 4L80E, etc., then my thinking changed a bit when I ended up with the leftover rear bumper from the M1008. Collected various parts and pieces for the project over a few years, but a move brought it all to a halt and here it...

Too bad you're a ways away. I should sell this practically rust free Suburban. Cheap, too, if I keep the engine, trans, x-fer case and axles. Was going to make an M1007 of sorts, but it won't happen.

While you can't see the part porkysplace mentioned, the frame doesn't look too horrible to me.

What are the odds? I just happen to have those sections of frame left over after shortening the M1008.

That was no trouble. What troubles me is that I didn't have the correct sizes on hand, at least not new ones. And I wasn't about to spend hours installing used belts. Also troubling me is that someone used two SAE bolts (instead of 12 mm) to fasten the skid plate. No big deal to run a tap...

Okay, now that the new belts are tightened correctly and I know for a fact that they fit good, it is appropriate to share what numbers I used. Please note that the fan/alternator belt is not the recommended size. I did a fair amount of research before starting this "belt-fight" (must've...

Worse yet, something tells me that those tires may not have ever been used, but that's a whole different story from them actually being new. Old tires (okay, old radials) can be quite sketchy, and I've often wondered about the liability aspect when people (or in this case, a business) peddle...

Rust can always be fixed. If it's worth the effort is another story. If nothing else, you could always put your M1031 specific things on a regular 1-ton in good shape.

Hopefully you'll get to page 36, section C, when I come visit. I'd love to sit a safe distance away and watch words and tools fly.

    That's odd.

Nah, only three minor leaks (blood), which is surprisingly few for a task like this. Actually, the main bleeder was because of me falling off the loader, which was due to my back not cooperating. But since your SEE suffers from fuel/rust issues and doesn't really run, I wouldn't worry about the...

    FLU fuel issues

I was afraid you'd say that. Bad fuel doesn't make sense to me, either, as the water should go to the bottom. One thing to try could be a hefty dose of an additive that absorbs water. Although, the rust that's already there is still a problem. And speaking of crud in the tank, the sand (?) I...
