    in a bad way!

I wouldn't order a new fuel pump just yet. If the pump is running and the pump is intact, the pump is likely not the problem. You can test the fuel pump by running it disconnected from the line and check the output. Make certain that there are no holes in the hose and definitely replace all...

    in a bad way!

There is only one filter on an A3 - there is no primary filter. The only filter present on an A3 is in plain sight on the drivers side of the CAT 3116. On an A3 it is also important to clean the check valve on top of the engine. However, this thread concerns an A2, which has a primary and...

    in a bad way!

Are you certain that you were actually injecting ether? Did you smell ether? There is almost no way the engine wouldn't have fired if you injected ether.

    Danger zone!

You will need a CDL for the 5-ton, if that's a problem.

Okay I got the Crown Nut off now what does it take to get the Lunette out? (photos)

Place a length of chain through the lunette. Take the other end and tie it to an anvil, or some other very heavy piece of steel or concrete. My anvil is 106 Lb. I find it best to place a prybar or piece of pipe across the anvil and have two people move the anvil as fast as they can, one person...

    M66 ring mount TM

Welcome to Steel Soldiers! You not only need the gun ring and legs, but you also need a cab reinforcement plate installed in your cab if there isn't already one installed. This is critical because of the excessive weight of the ring and legs flexing the cab. You will destroy your cab if this...

    Vacuum bleeding of Deuce brakes

I bought two gallons of DOT 5 off Ebay for $30.00 a while back. When you see a good deal, buy it. Don't wait until you need it.

    M35A3 CTIS Hub Seal Retainer

You can usually tell if the races are driven in all the way by the sound made when you hit the drift with the hammer. When in all the way, the sound changes from a dull ringing sound to a higher pitched bell like sound. The races should drive in easily and when the race stops moving you're in...

    M35A3 CTIS Hub Seal Retainer

Terry McClanahan is the one that put me on to using Right Stuff, it it's really good. Terry is absolutely an expert at everything A3. I found it at NAPA.

    M35A3 CTIS Hub Seal Retainer

Make sure you follow the TM when installing the race and retainers. You need to seal the parts with adhesive to make everything air tight. I used Permatex Right Stuff, and it doesn't take much. I also used Right Stuff when sealing the cork plug. I used several small pieces of cork coated...

    Rod knock

Dumping unfiltered WMO in your tank is absolutely not the thing to do. Not only will you plug up your filters, but you will shorten the life of the IP. WMO needs to be filtered very well before using.

    Rod knock

You need to stop running the engine as you are undoubtedly causing damage, assuming you are correct about the rod knock. Pull the pan and see what you have. You will not normally see metal until you drain the oil. Read the TM.

    Cookout at Zout's

I really want to thank Dave and Deb for putting this on. It was really great, almost like a mini-GA Rally! You two really put on a good cookout. The food was really great. I ate so much I think I set a new record. I made some new friends and saw some old ones. Now back to counting the days...

    Cookout at Zout's

My wife is still working on a big batch of potato salad tonight. I plan to leave Hiawassee about 0800. I'll be in my A3 and running only about 45, so I'll probably be rolling in around 1030 - 1045. I spent the afternoon topping off the fluids, and airing up the tires. Almost ready and can't...

    M35A3 CTIS Hub Seal Retainer

You need to remove the bearing race to remove the retainer. However, you should be able to replace the quad seal without removing the reainer, if the retainer is in good condition. It isn't hard to remove the bearing race with a brass drift if you need to. I had no choice because retainers...

    tires or CTIS leaking?

Also, when you dismount the wheel, mark the hub and wheel to make certain that you put it back on in the same orientation.

    tires or CTIS leaking?

I have attached a information from Erik's Military Surplus site as he has all the parts you need and he is very reliable. In my opinion, you should order the following items for each wheel. Wheel O-ring: 12363606 Valve Stem Grommet: RG22 Valve Stem Nut: HN80 I also keep 2 -3 extra of these...

    tires or CTIS leaking?

As Rustygears stated, the leak is almost certainly the valvestem grommets. I would not disconnect the CTIS as it is a good system that seldom leaks. Bite the bullet and pull each wheel and replace the grommets. Eric's has them, as well as new o-rings. Make sure you tighten the nuts to 45 -...

    M35A3 n00b Owner - Bundy Hill Adventure

One other thing to remember is that A3 trucks have rubber mats in the cab. Water will be under the mat from being submerged and causing all kinds of rust. A3s will rust under the floor mat even without being submerged due to condensation. This would also be a very good time to switch the...

    M35A3 n00b Owner - Bundy Hill Adventure

You shouldn't run an A3 at 53 MPH. I don't take mine over 45. You are overspeeding the engine. I would recommend turning off the CTIS. Inflate the tires manually up to 60 PSI. The truck will drive much better and the death wobble will be minimalized.
