I have found the most useful tool for accessing the master cylinder is a 6 inch adjustable crescent wrench. A regular wrench will not swing very well under the floorboard and you will have to take it in little bites to take it off. I found a 6" crescent swings very nicely under the...
I have found the "parts" manuals have good diagrams of the various components with the parts linked in the order they would be assembled typically. These manuals are in the deuce FAQ section and have the subscript "P" .
If you download the entire list of manuals you will figure out which...
bleeding brakes
Hi;
The bleeders are tight against the backing plate of the brakes and can be a pain to get to. I loosen mine with a socket and the operate them manually to loosen and tighten in order to bleed them.
As others have pointed out this is something any deuce owner needs to know...
Field Day 2010
Hi;
We used the S250 as a comm shack and my Deuce and S280 as a platform for the antenna mast.
Using fiberglass poles we put a 102' G5RV up 38' and a T2FD up 20. The setup took less than 15 minutes. I am adding a couple of pictures but they do not do justice to the setup. By...
In my experience around the type, in particular Blazers and other solid axle front end GM products of the same era, I have found that it is quite normal for the front tires to 'chirp' when you make a sharp turn.
In saying sharp, I am saying turned all the way to the lock, or very near it...
Lubricity and the lack of it in today's diesel;
Sulfur, which is now pretty much absent in our available truck diesel is a lubricant for the injectors and pump. There are several studies available that explain how the fuel allowed today does not properly lubricate those components of the fuel...
photos of my S280
Here are a few photos of my S280 I configured the shelter as a combination radio shack and camper. The battery is a business jet 28 volt converted to 13.8 volt, with about 100 amp hours. I used some CUCV Radio installation components after changing the main circuit breaker to...
Lock up equals lock up torque convertor
A lock up transmission is one that the torque convertor can lock once a cruising speed is attained and you are neither accelerating or de-accelerating. These were initially introduced in cars in the early 80's and are commonplace on all vehicles these...
Get a torque multiplier for the lug nuts
Fredo;
Do your self a favor and get a geared wrench for the lugs. It is called a torque multiplier and it is designed to hold the inner in place while loosening the outer nut. Besides that it also offers at least a 4 to one torque multiplier. Prices vary...
more information needed for report????
Was there puddle or a stench of 'pooh' where
the would be thieves were lurking
when you popped that .45 round off???
Perhaps da' "Yutes" ran into a few trees and fence posts
as they departed 'post haste'???
Inquiring minds want to know....

an additional piece of advice
I agree and aclknowledge that Wreckerman is absolutely correct. I would add this advice also:
Do not engage your front end when you have unbalanced rotation of your wheels. I am saying that if you are spinning your rears. STOP!!!!! Engage the front end. Then...
From what you have explained it appears that the main piston cups failed, most likely due to age. In the old days, before power brakes, a master would fail and then you had brake fluid inside the cab. It would leak out past the seal and out of the bore.
In the air pack, since the air piston...
I would install Infrared motion detectors and a very loud alarm system that covers the area around the deuce. Anyone goes near the truck and the alarm goes off. That will deter most any thief and will alert your dad and neighbors if someone is skulking around.
This coupled with a cutoff...
Coping with disabilities is mind over matter
I have some mobility issues myself. I understand the trepidation your wife may have about a deuce.
Any lift you design would be more amenable if it is operable by her, by herself if necessary. Independence is an important issue for people who are...
I am 35 miles north of Binghamton, and 12 miles from 88 in Sidney. Feel free to contact me via pm for cell number to have just in case you need help.

Another common fastener that can loosen up and make such a vibration is the short driveshaft between the transmission and the transfer case. The bolts on the flanges can become loose and cause a driveline vibration that worsens under load.
Hope this helps

I had to repair my radiator when I got my truck. I used a heavy duty sheet metal soldering iron, a good cleaning flux and solder rated for the materials I was putting together. The hardest part was removing the radiator so I could properly clean up the surfaces and access the places where it...
Update on the deuce and using a radio while driving!~
I installed a bullet race muffler and can carry on a conversation with an HT while making road speed, without HEADSET OR anything...I could hear fine and reports on my audio were good, no problems uynderstanding me, and not too much...
I would try ACETONE on a rag and use ample elbow grease once you establish that the ACETONE is not taking the rest of the paint off.
Remeber to only use highly flammable solvents in a well ventilated place. Outdoors at a minimum. And remember, No Smoking while removing GL markings with...
