    Gear reduction starter and flexplate

By all means put the starter support bracket on every starter you install on a 6.2 and a 6.5. They are required. Also changing the ring gear/flex plate can be as simple as installing 4- 3/8" X 4" grade 8 bolts in the place of the 9 11 1 & 2 o'clock position of the bell housing. Slide the...

My search is over. Less then $20...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Today after work I completed a few tasks on my M1009 project. I reinstalled 1/4 panel filler panels. I sorted thru my Energy Suspension body mount kit. I cleaned and painted the steel factory body mounts. They get used over again. I also cleaned and painted the bottom washers for the cab mounts...

desperately need help with m1009 wiring

Sad but true. I seen the scrap CUCV's & M880's piled up at the range. After A10 and artillery practice you can pick them up with a pitch fork. Sad but true. All ends well. A few years back they cleaned the range of scrap and I could not recognize any of the vehicles once they were loaded and...

    Bench seat won't slide

Could also be the cable is disconnected from one side. Easy fix. Seen it many times. The little spring slides over the bend in the cable to secure it to the lever/linkage. Good Luck report back. Once you have it reconnected manually slide both sides back and release the lever. Once back in time...

M1009 rear steel brake line size

I would advise against heating the brake line near a rubber hose. That hose will explode and shower you with boiling hot brake fluid. That is why they use DOT brake fluid. It has low expansion but when it does expand it blows that hose right off the crimped end. I do it all the time when cutting...

Trying to fix issues on new to me M1008 - now won't start

Change the fluid and filter. But the truth of the matter is the seals are brittle like fresh potato chips and the transmission needs to be rebuilt. Don't try and cut corners and do it half assed. You could save a bit of cash and take it in and out yourself. But yes the transmission is slowly...

M1009 rear steel brake line size

An M1009 does NOT have the anti skid valve on the rear frame.

desperately need help with m1009 wiring

May I suggest you just abandon the chopped up hacked up wiring harness and just return it to the way it was for all the years it served in the military. All you need is an un-hacked wiring harness and the TM's to return it to stock. It must have worked for many years or it would have been used...

    M1028 Fuel Issues

https://youtu.be/imPV93Byfww No those prices are insane. And I know where that place it. Glad I never stopped to ask. I am OK with the $350. rebuilt injection pumps. They haven't failed me yet.

    Oil cooler lines

Just keep in mind. They were "Made in China" but it was "Mainland China".

    Towing with M1009

The pintle hitch was a weak link. It was a massive fail on my Crown of Thorns M1009. I rebuilt it and reinforced the frame and bumper after that it was tough. I tied the bottom tube into the class 3 receiver and used a tube on the rear inside of the bumper to tie the center bracket into the...

Low voltmeter, hard start, then burning smell.

Voltage is not the issue with batteries. The amount of amperage. Low amperage will create heat and that could very well be your issue. Get the batteries load tested and that will be the deciding factor. Good Luck.

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

This AM a friend stopped over for coffee after church and was interested in my K5 project. We quickly went down to the barn and peeled all the plastic from the body. One thing led to another and we winched the body back onto the cart and spun it 180*. Then we winched it tight up against the...

    Oil cooler lines

I want to correct my post. I meant to say the metal hose ends are barbed and used ones are easier to work with. My Son replaced his lines without disturbing the fittings at all. They worked till he sold the truck. I bought air compressor hose since it is oil resistant and high pressure. I think...

    Oil cooler lines

RED WOLF. I never met you but I have conversed with you before. The oil cooler lines nowadays are about all the same. I would think they are all made in China. Mainland. And they are all going to fit about the same. Back in the day a new set of GM lines cost about $100. and took about 1 hour to...

Low voltmeter, hard start, then burning smell.

Are the batteries strong and have they been load tested? The resistors do get hot. How are the glow plugs?
