    VIC 1 in the M37

i spend so much time hacking on the Vic1 and related stuff that i have a whole second setup (AM-1780, C-2298, RT524, civi radios) on my workbench with cables routed around tool boxes to power supplies etc. The line running to the civi radio was laying against a 110v power line picking up noise...

Using the LS-671 to remotely Power On/Off any 12volt radio final installment in the quest to fully integrate the LS-671 into civi radios... LS-671 - RadioNerds The LS-671 has some interesting features that allow it to remotely turn on/off radios. for example, mounting a CB, GMRS, AM/FM under...

    VIC 1 in the M37

the buzz on transmit is due the low voltage of using this with 12volts Vs, 24.. when i run this with 24 volts the buzz is gone... UPDATE - Turns out i had some bad connections that introduced the buzz, it was fixed when i resoldered connections and shortened cables.. So this does work for full...

    VIC 1 in the M37

Yea i did some tests last night on that, i posted the basic diagram on my wiki, not a solution though.. it seems that the mute circuit isn't being activated, not sure if its due to low voltage (12 instead of 24) but i cant really test that just now.. ill have to integrate one of my isolation...

    VIC 1 in the M37

I re-drew the schematics for this, and confirmed that they worked.. there should be no issues... LS-671 - RadioNerds - 12Volt radio in a 24 volt vehicle (amplified) - 12 volt radio in a 12 volt vehicle (amplified) - any radio in any vehicle (unamplified)

    VIC 1 in the M37

there are several of us maintaining the wiki, and its a work in progress, so we try to keep everything going best we can...i will update the schematic. for your specific issue, you can always use the speaker test pins E and F, this will bypass all the internal circuits of the LS-671, and is...

    VIC 1 in the M37

BIG UPDATE! Prototype boards for the any radio to VIC1 Interface Hey all, wanted to give an update to my progress on this project. if you recall im integrating the VIC1 with regular civilian radio for both transmit and receive via the VIC1 headset.. with a clean and clear signal.. I designed...

    VIC 1 and ipod etc

ok, I figured you were using those input ports. in my system. documented here: Integrating with other equipment - RadioNerds i used the RX input J508 which doubles at the power jack if your not using the radios.. its a much more reliable connection there... for example in mine, i have a...

    VIC 1 and ipod etc

you dont need an EE or "formal" education to tinker, there are many ways to learn, some better than others. the key thing that is *most* important is DESIRE.. you have that already... as for the ipod etc... impedance, output level and isolation are ALL equally important.. - Impedance will...

    BC-923 Receiver hookup, setup

anyone got a BC-923-A out there...?? I have found nearly nothing out there on this radio. I did find the schematic, but im having trouble getting the right power into it.. I would just love the service manual, its TM 11-4030.. help a brother out ova-here! Chris.

    VIC 1 and ipod etc

in a pinch to test the impedance theory, the transformer in an LS-166 speaker (VRC12 type) is 600:8, just hook up the ipod to the 8ohm side and the other to the Vic. its tolerable that way...

Ham Radio Operators / Steel Soldiers

let me second OPCOM, there is no "RULE" there are "bandplans" but those arent "RULES" although you will hear lots of people try to tell you there are.. They are "gentlemans agreements" nothing more.. also dont forget that the radio will probably tune down into the 10 meter band also in the...

    VIC 1 in the M37

yea thats fine.. you might get some engine hum, but thats a larger issue... there is no basic criteria to participate in a wiki, your observations are enough, and as far as frying someones stuff, i would say they need to learn to filter themselves.. reader beware regardless where it comes from..

    VIC 1 in the M37

That should work fine, one thing i noticed is that the mute circuit doesnt work when i put 12 volts on the speaker, but does when there is 24 and the transformer is used.. the result is a loud squeal when you try to use the speaker mic jack.. but since your RX only... no worries... that other...

    VIC 1 in the M37

Thanks for the feedback!! I will say that you *need* to have at least a Family Radio Service (FRS) radio in there. (as i see a later post has mentioned) even the handheld (which are the only legal FRS radios, although many people will dial in the freq on a general 440 rig) are capable of...

Ham Radio Operators / Steel Soldiers

WELCOME! the M37 doesnt really have alot of space in the cab for the radios, they usually go in the bed on the bench.. I put mine on a shelf in the back, then connected them to an intercom inside... although this isnt 100% accurate :-) (Im in it for the radios, not the truck)... regarding ham...

54 m37, Not Charging, Field Tests?

ok so this was fun... so like i said the armature was bad... i replaced that from a junker, but immediately got a call from the shop.. they said charged great for about 5 minutes, then the field coil shorted out... got any of those? why sure, from the junkers i have... took some more junk to...

No Fuel, Weak Spark - Here I Am Again.

just my 2 cents... i removed the fuel filter from inside the tank and added a filter BEFORE the electric pump. It just always seemed stupid to me to put the filter in the tank.. anyway its easier to change on the side of the road when your stuck and prevents having to reseal the tank all the...
