Ham Radio Operators / Steel Soldiers

let me second garrets comments. 52.525 is totally inappropriate for a calling freq in military radios. NONE of the historical sets can to this, let alone do it in a way that makes them "compatible" with other users on that freq in 'Narrow band FM".. the sincgars are the only ones that can do...

I have an S-89 shelter in my M37.. I swagged my own cables and essentially put large eyelets on the inside of the bed directly below the tie point.. I decided against the "cross ways" method because i also mounted a 33ft crankup mast on the shelter and they would be in the way. also my...

    Is this the right antenna?

You can use as many center sections as you want, I often rig up hf antennas this way. The number of section effectively changes the frequency the antenna works on.

Can you convert the M-80 mic to work with a CB?

Usually there is a ground and a ptt which when connected to ground causes the radio to key. The outgoing audio from the mic goes out one and shares the gnd. Sometimes there is receive audio, but that isn't needed here Figure out by using a small jumper to gnd which one causes it to key...

M37 with S-89 shelter, Restored Shelter

These 22mm ammo boxes are a dream! They are light Watertight and radios mount in them perfectly. I have over 10 ov them, you can get them cheap b/c no one really knows what to do with them. What I have done for years is to drive out the Ning rod, them mount different radios in them. I have...

yes i did, this particular one was a 400khz aircraft beacon so it had wood in it, which was trashed. I replaced it with new paneling, raw wood OUT, then polyurethaned them. one really interesting thing, the width is 54", and 71" long, they cut SOLID pieces of wood to go in this, since this is...

    R-442 with an AS-1729??

i use the same setup on mine and although RX isnt as critical on length and matching as TX its still very important. i recommend just rotating manually the tuning knob on the bottom of the MX6707 to the range the R-442 is on, you will find much greater sensitivity on the radio. its amazing how...
