RE: Re: RE: studs and nuts
Also, sometimes these trucks haven't had the wheels off in a while and they have been painted. If soldier B painted the wheels, chances are it got gooped onto the lug nuts and thimble threads. If you try to remove the nuts, and they bind up, STOP! Reverse the...
Use that "HE" stuff. It doesn't foam and cleans real good. Don't use a dish washing soap, it foams ALOT and it will take forever to get it out of the system. Also, if you have a heater in the truck, turn it on when you flush it so you get the oil out of it too.
Someone get some engine oil out of the multi, add some WVO and heat it to around 230 degrees and see what it looks like. In one of the above posts, it was stated that he ran on straight diesel after discovering the issue. Was the oil changed then? If so, did the engine "make oil"? Is Bjorn...
Oil is cheap compared to what water does to bearings. Maybe 2 oil changes with a filter at most. If it were an every day driver, getting the oil temps to 250 or so, 1 would do it. To get the oil out of the coolant, go get a small bottle of a "HE' laundry detergent. Use about 2/3 to 3/4 of the...
I think the Bros out here wanted $200 or $250 EACH fot a wheel/tire combo. As for the air assist steering, they are out there, mostly in pieces. If you take your time, you can round up some parts, but you'll still need to fab up brackets and lines and most likely the pitman arm/controller part.
Mostly home, but sometimes I lurk at work..don't wanna log in there, big brother is watching! You'd think I work at NASA or something what with all the electronic monitoring going on.
Re: RE: Brazed rocker
Yes it is! Notice no oil in the retainer on that cylinder? The push tubes and valve/rocker lever tips get oil from the oil hole in the center of the lever and it runs down over the component to be oiled. I'd replace it or as many that are like that.
Use a bottle jack on the pan rail to hold it up. Seriously, maybe 2 extra hours, depending on how hard...what degree of tree the gasket has turned back into.. the gasket is. Like I said, you're there.
Hey Chuck, I looked at your post like 3 times today and still forgot to get the p/n's you needed, good to see you got the stuff comming. These engines like to leak at the front cover gasket too. It would be a shame to put it all together and have oil oozing out the cover bolts. You are just a...
RE: Accessory drive seal leaking bad on cummins engi
I'll get some p/n's tomorrow. As for the wear sleeve, depends on weather or not it's been apart before. Only way to tell, disassemble it.
Flywheel housings are availabe in the bellhousing size of the trans, or you can use the reducer that comes stock on the LDT. The C is a bit longer, I think by 2 or 3 inches. Ypu'll need to fab the mounts and a fan drive. The RPM is lower on the C, so you'll lose road speed.
Let it sit for a few weeks. Draw off the top until you see a difference in the material you are pumping out. The H2O will hang at the bottom and you'll see it when it starts comming out.
RE: Re: RE: Accessory drive seal leaking bad on cummins engi
Make sure you put a new slinger on the accessory drive shaft. It is very important to make sure the adapter is centered and straight on the crank. It can and will break the crank in front of the #1 rod journal. You must dial indicator it.
There is a parts manual in the TM section. I;ll try looking it up onQSOL right now, stand by...
The copper gasket should be p/n, 130240..still agood number. FYI, coat the gasket with never seize. It makes future adjustments easier, and sometimes a bit more leak free.
