I had a similar concern with my M101A3. That is what led me to look into sectioning the axle. I reluctantly bolted on standard M1008 stuff (6.5" wide factory rim) and it fits perfectly.

Vac pumps on the 6.5 are belt driven. The fuel filter occupies some of the real estate neede for a can driven vac pump.

Unless it's out of a 93 truck, you will need to swap injection pumps. 94 and up use the DS 4 electronic injection pump.

The HMMWV rim and tire will clear the frame rail by about an inch with the A2 axle. I built a similar trailer but used the M887 SECM and the frame of the box was wider than the frame of the trailer and the HMMWV rolling stock wouldn't fit. Your SECM body may be different. Sectioning the outters...

I don't recall if they were governed or not? My M108 wasn't. If it were an M60 it would have had the doubled frame.

It was once a fuel or water truck. As far as I know, they were the only ones that had a governor cable. The cable at the IP originally went to the trnasfer case PTO. Does the data plate say M35A2? Is it hand stamped?

I used grill paint but I did prep the pipes pretty well. Since I worked in the field, I had the resources to put it up on the lift every so often to touch it up. The diesel exhaust doesn't seem as hot as the stuff from my big block days..

Between now and tomorrow there is another step you can take for cleanup. If I have to leave mine before the bottom is clean, I put one of the cheap lawn sprinklers under the truck. It keeps the stuff loose and knocks quite a bit off while you sleep (if you don't mind running the water).

Isn't that some great stuff? FM 20-22 is your friend. It covers much stuff like this. I prefer the 1962 version but there are at least 4 versions (that I have). They are on ebay cheap too.
