Cribbing or box cribbing might just be the best idea man has had since the wheel. Goes like this. Fire, wheel, cribbing, beer and pizza. Wings were much later in evolution.
Ordered a clutch kit and flywheel for the project truck. The ranger torque splitter is on the garage floor and the 465/205 in the bed off the M1008. The real fun starts when all the parts are here.
Wow, the one man band thing really sets a tone here as well. My 12 yr old has been the crane operator (on the M1 0h eight) since he was 6. I'm too old to be climbing up and down on that thing. Hopefully my CUCV Wrecker project will take care of that. That PP may be salvagable. Kinda worth a...
Sure it can be done. There is an A/C place in AZ or TX that sells the mounts. Sits low on the passenger side and you need to add a pulley to the crank.
From the mid 80s the NP205 had a round pattern. If you can find one of these you can likely bolt it right onto your existing adapter. You will be sacrificing the 2.61 low range of the 208. No big deal if you never wheel the truck.
I've done these both ways and frankly, I find it easier to do them seperate. Lifting the oil pan over the front crossmember (unless you have the removable one) and getting the tranny tower under the firewall is a bit of a pain. I also find it worth my effort to remove the left fender.
If it is a single circuit brake system, it would seem odd that only one axle would drag as opposed to all since they are all tee'd together. I would be really suspicious of that front frame to axle brake hose.
6.2 is externally balanced. The 350, 366, 427 medium duty engines are internally balanced. If the flywheels do bolt on you can likely have heavy weights added to achieve balance.
