I like GM, have no welder and wanna help the economy by shipping George some cash he can spend it on stippers who will use the money to feed their kids.
:-?
Search "alt" in the classifieds. You can replace both like I did or just add a 12 volt. Brackets are 75 each set. It cost me 40ish for my 12 volt alt since I had no core. You''ll need one new belt and a third battery (to do it like I did, not like Harry F ing Potter).
I added a relay to turn...
The plastic tape I used was in a spray can. Went on like paint. I used three coats after letting each coat dry for an hour or so. When I was done it sure looked like it was all "taped" up.
I have all month to figure out what I'm going to do. Each month I get a "budget" (there's a dirty word)...
So spend 30 bucks and 20 minutes and :grd:
I guess if you wire them in series you would make the load 24 volts and be ok. Not sure what happens if one burns out while hooked up that way.
You might be ok wiring them up as 12 volt and connecting to one battery - they aren't used a lot.
You...
Much thanks for the ton of info provided. I have lots to think about with all the different replies in this thread. I also like hearing that my idea would work. And so would the 10 gauge wire I secretly wanted to use since I have a lot of it.
I have one of those relays under the hood now...
Sorry for the confusion. I don't know what I want so I asked for input/advice etc.
I want bright as I can for as cheap as I can. 12 or 24 volt - don't matter.
I only assumed 12 volt would be easier/cheaper.
I am head light challanged and only want to be schooled.
I would hook it to my 12 volt fusebox.
That doesn't help you though. There has been a ton of discussion about this in the last month. I'm sure you'll find your answer.
If I use 12 volt lights I don't need to drop the voltage. I already have 12 volts on the truck. I was just looking at ways to turn them on and off.
Now that I've asked for some input and ideas, I'm looking at some other ways to go.
I want something brighter than stock, yet not blue or...
That was me and the idea FAILED. The winch was too SLOW. It would have taken a month to get the ATV in the bed.
I tossed it and installed a cheap HF 3000 lb 12 volt winch in the same spot. Works great now.
I guess it ain't easy being the toy King. Did you sell that Sami yet? I told my buddy (the one with crap Sami at DIRTBAG) about it, but he's out of town for awhile.
Now that I have LED tail lights and turn signals coming cheap, I think a head light upgrade might be a good idea.
I looked into 24 volts LEDs and I don't want to spend that kind of money.
I'm thinking about going 12 volts. I think the selection and prices are better on the 12 volt side...
I did a tour at PMRF Barking Sands on the island of KAUAI in the mid 90s. My base housing was less than 2 minutes from back door to standing in the ocean. The base was not fenced there and locals would often get stuck in the sand and wander illegally into base housing looking for help.
I had...
