Look at a factory winch and see how much tan it has and then copy. If that's the look you're going for.
If you want to true military look get plenty of overspray on the cable.
What's an average price on one of those winches?
I dropped my spare 105 five inches by loosing the bottom five springs. We also tossed the overloads to save weight. With the lunette flipped and the tallest drawbar I can find it sit level on my 08 2500HD.
We ripped out all the lights and brakes since everything was dry rotted. I added...
Not my issue. I was doing simple math - 2700 pound trailer and "over 5000" pounds on a 7000 pound axle. The OP has since posted that the trailer weighs far less than 2700 than it originally did.
Wow! That is a weight loss. I've changed out axles, landing gear and wheels before and I knew the stuff was heavy, just did not realize it added up to that much.
What's the price for say a 60 amp equalizer? I still think it's cheaper in the long run to add a 12 volt alt and another battery. My replacement costs on a 24 volt 1one alt is $123 - cheap enough to carry a spare.
And no matter what I run on the 12 volt side or how bad I screw it up, the...
FYI - I am very close to the facilty. I can take pics, but I CAN NOT help store while you make a recovery plan. Got enough dogchit here, don't need any horse..................
All great advice. The main reason I grounded everything to the seat was - that's where everything was grounded when I bought the truck. I used it for about two years and when I added the 12 volt system I went with what had already been working.
I know the alts to frame grounds are good since...
How much do you think it weighs after you made all the changes? The 105 is a heavy trailer (about 2700 lbs) so with only a 7K axle I don't know if you can get "over" 5K in it.
Note pic 1. One is from the single (12 volt) and one is from the dual (24 volt) batterys.
