For me the cost and risk of a first time recovery was not with it. Have the truck shipped to your home/shop and then take your time going through it. Remember there is cost either way ie lost time at work, fuel, fuilds, food, tools, and risk (no brakes + 13,400= bad day).
I have read a story...
Be prepared a break down in Forest Park would not be fun. The southside of Atlanta ie Forest Park and College Park is the bad side of town. Crime in that area is high.
It's been extremely cold here so good batteries and clean fuel are going to be critical.
Good luck and be safe
There is a j pipe on the air pack you can remove it and squirt air tool oil in it or if your lucky remove the pipe plug on the back. FYI mine is striped out
I would bleed the brakes and do a inspection.
I did a cold start this morning 30 degree. Truck had not been ran for a couple weeks because I just finished replacing all the hoses. It started on the second spin. Lots of smoke but smoothed out after a minute or so. I use a diesel fuel additive and it helps out. Also, I am glad to report the...
I just changed mine out. However, mine was rusted beyond repair at the bottom. Pickuped a used one and had it rebuilt. I also replaced the thermostat, belts, and hoses.
I agree that you should have it repaired before buying a new one.
Parts are easy to find. Some are cheap others not.
Repair bill, i could not afford for someone to work on mine. You really have to buy the tools and do the work yourself. They require pcms and most are 40+ years old.
Search for a thread named the true ownership cost of a deuce
I used my winch once to pull a pathfinder out a ditch up hill. It worked problem, looking back I think I could pulled the frame out.
So, I don't think it's under powered. I thinking Gimpyrod suggestion is correct.
I would not use a bolt because the winch is pto driven.
I have a hard time believing anyone would run a water line under a driveway. Where is the meter box in the concrete drive. Futhermore what consstruction company uses PVC and not copper. In addition, a deuce has 10 tires so 1,340 lbs each. I'm not buying it there reasoning.
Airmech, what did you torque your lug nuts down too when you reinstalled? Have they come loose since?
Manual says 400-425 on the bud nuts and 325-355 on the lugs. I was wondering if these were correct.
