Sounds like you found the problem. I may have neglected to explain that beelding the MC is usually done on the bench before returning the MC to the vehicle. You simply make sure the bore is full of Brake fluid. It can be done on a vehicle by cracking the lines on the MC while pushing the...
The master cylinder cap is threaded into the master cylinder. It takes a 3/4" wrench and use the shortest open end wrench you have as there is not much room to swing it with the pedal assemblies and such in the way. When I am only checking my brake fluid, I simply loosen the breather and it acts...
On my Suburban which has the same frame setup essentially as the CUCV I simply ran the push bar support on the outside of the frame. If you measure the width of a push bar for most of the plow setups you will find the width of the push bar is about the same, or just a little bit less or more. I...
I bought a myers 7-1/2' 4 way plow and frame for $200. This included the harness which I did not use. I went online and looked up the style plow I had and vehicle type like mine at Myers's site and downloaded the installation instructions.
I fabricated the adapters to mount the hoist on my frame...
I apologize for my misreading the previous post I referenced by G-Force...
I misunderstood the intended meaning. Upon a very careful re-reading, I agree that the information presented was correct.
I hate to be picky
This is not correct if you think about it.
The throw out bearing only moves when the pedal is pressed and the bearing comes into contact with the fingers of the pressure plate. When you push the clutch, the bearing presses on the pressure plate fingers releasing the...
This does not sound good for your throw out bearing!
Even if you can grease the bearing, squealing is a sound made when something is NOT TURNING moving against something that IS! Generally the damage done in that circumstance is fatal for a bearing.
Take a look, and maybe, just maybe, you...
Having recently gone through my brake system on my deuce I see some great ideas here in making the job of bleeding the system easier.
The small volume of the master cylinder is a drawback while manually bleeding the system and having a pressurized system can be a problem if you do not fill the...
I have a simple question. Why don't you tow the deuce with the wrecker. Even if it takes a couple of days getting the wrecker running properly, it would be safer that trying it the other way around.
Just a thought/
I was advised by our trusted JATONKA to not idle the Multifuel, but pull the throttle so it is at about 1000 rpm.
As JT put it: "These Multi's just slobber all over at idle".
My truck runs great, and the stack cleans up at speed, and uses no fluids so I expect it is a combusion chamber...
I am planning on making the entire run from Owego to Sterling and I hope we can get some more MV owners to commit to doing this.
It is about 100 miles overall.
I know many who are veterans of Viet Nam and I am pleased I can do something to honor their service..
I just finished straightening out my brakes and the wrench sizes are 3/8 for the air vent on the master and 3/4 for the cap itself. I would recommend checking any trucks master cylinder daily until you know the idiosyncrasies of that particular truck. In my case, I had to rebuild a wheel...
There is truly only one adjustment on the alingment on these trucks
Toe In.
Camber and Caster are not adjustable and you can see if there are any major defects by looking for anything that is not like the other side.
Check out my previous post or go and download the TM for this truck...
I recall that there is a spline and a wider splined section that is essentially missing a notch. It would be easy to install a steering wheel in the wrong location. The tilt columns are a bit more difficult to misalign than the non tilt columns.
If you suspect that your wheel is incorectly...
I have been driving V series GM products for many years. If the vehicle tracks straight, and there is significant play in the steering wheel, check the tie rod ends on the drag link. I just had a smilar problem with my 3/4 suburban and it was the worn tie rod ends on the drag link. Again, you...
I would add that the steering wheel cannot be put on in the "incorrect" position. It is keyed and can only go on properly one way. Chances are that something may be bent in the linkage if it is fresh out of DMRO. They would not ever manhandle anything that is for sale now would they? can you...
