    front spring opinions

I have installed rancho 4 inch lifts on 4 of our 1008's. I like them a lot. We install a add a leaf in the rear with 2 inch block, it looks good. I replace the front springs, all the bushings front and rear, the sway bar bushings, steel braided brake lines(front) and new u bolts form super...

    Dang Retaining Ring

I actually made a tool that goes through the diff like what was mentioned to knock the seals out. It also can unscrew in the middle for better storage. Works well too but I like the slide hammer idea as well.

    Dang Retaining Ring

When you say retaining ring, you also mean inner axle seal right? I am trying to picture a retaining ring(sap ring of some sort)?

    First time out

I am amazed! Friday I took the 1008 out on a jeep trail at about 8500ft. It was a great day, snowing like crazy! The truck performed flawlessly in deep ruts and through tight turns. I ran her through some deep snow drifts and still no problem. Some collegues doubted this old truck would...

New CUCV, now stuck at the grocery store :)

Try to get a hold of a volt meter and check for voltage on the starter solenoid. If you have voltage then it's the starter.

New CUCV, now stuck at the grocery store :)

Sounds like a bad starter. I have seen weird things like this, there probably shorting with the internal parts in the solenoid/starter. As far as the new relay smoking-could be faulty, not 24 volt? Good luck

New CUCV, now stuck at the grocery store :)

Well it sounds like you need a new starter. It could have been cranked too long and burned up or just was time to go out. I dont know what the weather is like in Aspen, but in Fort Collins it was 65 today. The starter is pretty easy to replace, just two main bolts that screw in from the...

Took Delivery on my 86 CUCV M1008!

I found that for around $100 you can buy a dash overlay, they look great and can hardly tell it is not the actual dash. Check the internet or your local 4x4 shop. As for the fuel filter leaks, check that the drain is tight and I believe there is a o-ring attatched inside(correct me if I am...

    Cheap IP rebuilds

No, over the phone/email quote. It sounds like they really know what they are doing. They are a pump/injector specialty shop. I can get a rebuild from napa or carquest for around $700 with my discount! Terrible. And who knows how long it has been sitting on the shelf. I will let you know...

Dieselcare.net in Memphis can rebuild injection pumps for whatever specs you need for $265.00 + shipping. I just sent one out and will let you know how it goes! Just wanted to let you all know.

    EGR

Yes, we just hauled the truck in this week. I want to drive it first to compare the power at 5000ft vs 10000ft. I am waiting for the snow to clear a little. I agree and suspect that the altitude factor is the problem. Also what about high altitude injection pumps? I am not sure what...

    STE test set

Is the connector in the bottom middle of the dash the STE test port. What does this thing do and what plugs into it? Can I get one?
