Check out his paragraph about fuel filter fit a little ways down. It got me wondering...

I think what he's picking on is the fit of the center cork gasket on the spring loaded cup on the stem in the can.
The suspense was...
To be clear, I didn't leave my deuce sitting that long, wouldn't do such a thing. It sat retired from a farm, now I'm trying to bring it back from the dead.
I have heard of bacteria in diesel before, but here in the desert, never seen it. We don't have much moisture that doesn't come from a...
My deuce sat for years, 10 or 15, with the tank FULL of diesel. It wasn't very cruddy. Dry desert and tank being full doesn't give room for rust to form.
Rusty, I agree, but it seems to me like the stuff that usually takes a truck down is stuff you can't see on inspections. I guess that's the reason for going through everything and changing certain parts such as injectors every so often.
With as much trouble as there seems to be with fuel...
I strongly suggest you adjust the valves before tearing into it if you haven't recently.

Even better, get a mechanics stethoscope, they're awesome. Check for exhaust manifold port temp differences in warmup.
For some reason, the fuel was turned way down on my water deuce when I got it, and it popped and crackled and had low power. Point being, lack of fuel (filters maybe) makes...
Stiff rubber axle tube scraper to get the crud out, works good. I had already reinstalled the seals and retainers when I took the pic. Custom reamed kingpin bushings.
Inverted the plates to get rid of the vertical slop. Tapped the 1/8" pipe threads from the other side so the grease fittings...
Rusty - sorry, I should have been more clear and thorough with how I worded my question and could have saved you the trouble.
I have read that thread (maybe not completely, though, it is long and muddled), others, the manuals, enough that I can quote most of those hp/tq/ci numbers for the...
I have an LDS 465 and am familiar with the differences, but this thread is referring to a 427...different animal. Jatonka and others say the 427 has more seat of the pants power than the LDT 465, and that the turbo was there to make power, not just clean up smoke.
I will test injectors eventually, but I can hear the pushrods clattering, which was what my '62 was doing, valves were very loose, and adjusting them made a huge improvement. Three of the exhaust valves were very loose.
Should I not run it until I get the HG situation fixed? Or is a little...
Well, apparently she doesn't like makin' power. Valves started ticking, causing a little chug at idle, no biggie.
On dry start, the engine sounds kinda "clattery" 'til the oil pressure comes up (it comes up to 60 psi cold at idle I think) and then when it gets warmed up, and the pressure goes...
'cuz I heard a rumor. I may just run 'em. I have half 'n half. I want riveted ones on the outside at least, cuz I think they're "original".
JS, weld the rivets on the inside, or weld the center into the rim?
